Call it a funeral at sea for the U.S. Navy's Sea Shadow. The stealth
ship, which served as an inspiration for the supervillain's supervessel
in the James Bond movie "Tomorrow Never Dies," is set to be dismantled and recycled.

The Navy had hoped that a private buyer would come
forward and take the spy ship off its hands. Alas, there were no takers,
so the bizarre black Sea Shadow is heading for the scrap heap.

It was built to test stealth technology for ships.

It must not have worked out well if they were wanting to sell it and no foreign government bought it.

The major issue is that the new owner had to take the Hughes Mining Barge, too.

Pretty sure it would come with a few strings, and that certain governments were "not invited to the auction" to put it mildly.

It was a research platform for the next generation of destroyers.

Mothballed, literally. Now they're dismantling the platform.

Wonder how much they wanted for it?

I wish I had the cash. I would live on it.

The truck driver with the $1.5 mil. from the other thread was probably on his way to buy it

I guess this is better than being sunk by your own Navy for target practice like FFG 1070

Sink it off the coast of Florida for a reef... I would love to dive on that thing.
