17 great years with my buddy has to come to an end tomorrow. Old age and a nasal tumor has unfortunately caught up with him. Man this is ripping me apart fellas!
I found him half dead in the road on the way Home from work one late night and its been history ever since. Feeling a little lost today and needed to commiserate a little.

gosh that sucks, prayers sent. love my dags and know how it feels to say goodbye to a long time friend
Link Posted: 4/30/2015 11:05:57 AM EDT
That sucks. What's his name?
Link Posted: 4/30/2015 11:06:18 AM EDT
Sorry to hear that.

I just try to remind myself that taking care of my dog is my responsibility. Helping him not to suffer is part of that responsibility.

What is his favorite meal?

Sorry to hear this. Hang in there.

Sorry man.
Link Posted: 4/30/2015 11:12:26 AM EDT
He'll be waiting for you someday, just like in that picture.
You'll see him again.
Sorry for the tough time now, though, OP.

Yeah, thanks guys. I keep telling myself that he wont suffer any more as well.
His name is terror. Named him that after we found him because there wasnt a fence around that would hold him. Climbed 6' fence like it was a lego block. So we just brought the little sucker inside. :) And he loves hamburgers.

I'm so sorry you're losing your buddy.

^ This for sure. Last year we had to put our lab down after him finally caving into lymphoma. It was a three month struggle but the last week we fed him like a Roman warrior. I feel your pain and my heart goes out to you.

I do not know what I would do if I lost one of my best friends...... Remember the good times!

My thoughts are with you. I had to have my 14 year-old cat put down on Monday, and it was like losing my best friend. Intestinal cancer. It just broke my heart.

Those little furry four-leggers just seem to burrow their way into your heart, and when they leave, there's this big hole......

We had to do that with our daughter's dog, she got him when she was in 2nd grade. He had trouble breathing and much more. it is so sad to watch her as she hugged and cried holding him. So sorry for your loss

You were blessed to have a pal like him! And he was blessed to have a pal like you.

My first passed away about ten years ago. And I still miss him.

BusMaster007 - you made my day!

Think of the life he would have had without you. You did good man, he had a long life and I'm sure it was a great one. That's all you can ask for.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Think back on what a blessing he was...

I know what you mean, I put my lab down tomorrow morning.

I lost my little Rat Terrier buddy two years ago. Still hurts when I look in our backyard and see the small cross we placed above where he lays. It gets better with time OP but you will always think of him. Stand strong.

Sorry,

But you must know the time is right, 17 years is a great run. Think of the good times.

This is never easy, not if you are human.
Just keep in mind, you made his time here better.

Sorry for your loss.

I feel your pain. A few years ago I had to put my childhood friend and companion to sleep for the same reason. I bawled like a little girl.
Link Posted: 4/30/2015 11:50:24 AM EDT
Truly sorry I had to do that to my best buddy last June. Ranks up there in the top hardest things I had to do. War watching my dad die and signing the paper for my lil buddy.

I'm so very sorry. I have been there as well.

I am praying for comfort for both of you. And that your grief is replaced by joyous memories of him soon.

OP - Log out and back in.

Sorry to read about your bud.

So Sorry.
After 19 years we had too put our cat Fila down last Monday evening unexpectedly. I knew it was coming but was thinking in terms of months from now. I was a basket case when I realized that it was indeed time. I wasn't prepared and didn't know I was THAT attached to her. I find myself still greeting her whenever I come in the house.

Take a lot of pictures today and let him do/eat his favorite things today if you can. I wish I could have just one more day with Fila so I could do that for her.

Sorry.
Link Posted: 4/30/2015 12:09:38 PM EDT
Wow....17 years....You got bonus time!

Sorry
Link Posted: 4/30/2015 12:15:02 PM EDT
Sorry man. Sucks dogs' lives are so short. I don't want to think about saying goodbye to my dog...was hard enough having our cat put to sleep.
Link Posted: 4/30/2015 12:17:50 PM EDT
I went through this last month. I think about her every day. Enjoy your last day with her and cherish the time you have left. I feel for you OP, it's one of the worst things to go through. It's like loosing a kid.
Link Posted: 4/30/2015 12:20:51 PM EDT
17 years is a long time for a dog. Obviously he was well taken care of and loved. You done good. I'm sorry about your buddy.
