That is the transcript for the Kerry/O'Neill debate on the Cavett show in 1971... here is a Kerry quote from the debate:

"The fact of the matter remains that after I received my third wound, I was told that I could return to the United States. I deliberated for about two weeks because there was a very difficult decision in whether or not you leave your friends because you have an opportunity to go, but I finally made the decision to go back and did leave of my own volition because I felt that I could do more against the war back here. "

Isn't that lovely? While serving he was already figuring out how best to undermine the war...

O'Neil in the book says that he was out of country the next day after being told he could go IIRC not two weeks! This guy suffers from CRS disease. (Can't Remember Spit). Planerench out.

OK... someone answer this for me:

There seems to be no argument about Kerry spending a grand total of 4 months in Vietnam.
During this period he:

* Saw/participated in many savage atrocities.
* Was wounded three times.
* Recouperated from his wounds twice.
* Saved the lives of various people.
* Thought for weeks about going home (after 3rd wound - while recuperating).

Is it just me, or does this seem like rather a lot to cram into 16 weeks ?

It is alot for 16 weeks, but it doesn't take long to recuperate from briar scratches.
