Was on a walk... and there it was.  Middle of the day, in the shade, chomping on some grass.  Didn't run or even seem to notice me.

Rabid?

Damn, possums are ugly.

Sick or wounded. Otherwise, they're pretty much nocturnal.

You should've punted his blind ass through the uprights

My dad and I were sitting outside of a denny's in Miami today when this rat the size of a chihuahua came scampering across a couple footpaths to get to some bushes.

We also saw some doves the size of chickens that were begging for some .22 action.

Possums can't usually have rabies.

in the shade in Washington?  maybe he thought it was just a moonlit night if it wasn't raining.

I've seen them out in twilight and they can get very used to people and ignore them.  I've worked at both Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm after dark and I can assure you that it wasn't the possums that went running and screaming as the possums wandered through the crowds.

Hondaciv needs to be consulted to determine if it was in fact a possum that you saw.

More then likely one of Hondaciv's pets, he has a few tame ones.

There is(was?) one living in my greenhouse in the back yard. Its just used for storage, haven't been in there in a while. I'm in the back working on the VW and woke it up. It came out, scared the cat, stared at me for a moment, then walked back inside and went back to sleep presumably.

A few days later I heard him again rustling around underneath a tarp. I poked him with a PVC pipe thru the tarp, and he froze. I lifted up the end of the tarp and he stared at me with his mouth open. If they didn't have those ugly looking teeth and the rat tail, I bet they would make good pets (or at least a better pet than my sister's rabbit makes, the stinky little biting bastard)

That ain't no opossum...

But it's gotta be one of the most photoshopped things on the internet Although that one looks more like a copycat made from scratch. Skibane's version is more like the original, but with a different phone and street name.

Maybe I'll catch my possum and throw it in a certain recycling dumpster in Albany...

Ah you're probably right. I think that was a copycat and not the original. I couldn't find the other one.

I have one living near me.  I see him almost every night I walk my dog.  They are nearly blind.  You can walk right up to them, and they will "play 'possum."

The dog would love to get a hold of him, but as long as he mind's his business, I'll mind mine.
