Finally, somebody grew a pair of cajones and said it like it is. Unfortunately, they fell short of calling the Saudi's terrorists (probably because  we still need their oil) but at least its a good start. This from Tom Daschel none the less.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Amid reports of new al Qaeda activity, including three Saudi operatives who told investigators of orders to attack American interests, the top Democrat in the U.S Senate accused Saudi Arabia on Sunday of not doing enough to combat terrorism.

Senate Majority Leader Thomas Daschle also urged President Bush ( news - web sites) to proceed carefully in his war on terror though he backed the president's recent declaration that the United States will move preemptively against such threats.

"There may be occasions (where) preemption is necessary, and when those occasions arise, I hope that it will be the policy of the United States to consult with our colleagues and our allies around the world," Daschle said on "Fox News Sunday."

"But if all else fails, if we have no other option ... clearly we've got to act in our own best interest," the South Dakota Democrat said.

He singled out Saudi Arabia for criticism in light of the report that three Al Qaeda operatives, all Saudi nationals arrested last month in Morocco, were planning suicide attacks in bomb-filled boats against American and British warships.

He said he was "not convinced" the kingdom was doing all it could to combat terrorism.

The Washington Post said the three Saudi al Qaeda members had told Moroccan officials Osama bin Laden ( news - web sites) commanded his fighters in December to disperse across the globe to attack "American and Jewish interests." Daschle said U.S. efforts to penetrate the network were dependent on greater assistance from the Middle East and urged the administration to take a tougher stance.

"We could get a lot more help from the Saudis in so many ways ... They could help us a lot more in the subsurface efforts that are under way. We're not getting that kind of help, and I'm disappointed," he said.

"We need to be aggressive, we need to be even confrontational with the leadership of the Saudi government in those occasions when they're not doing enough."

Daschle and other lawmakers spoke in support of Bush's policy of moving against potential attackers, including Iraq, amid the reports of continuing al Qaeda operations, and after a deadly bomb attack on a U.S. consulate in Pakistan.

Lawmakers confirmed that Bush had signed a new intelligence order earlier this year that expanded CIA ( news - web sites) efforts to knock Iraqi President Saddam Hussein ( news - web sites) out of power.

The Washington Post said the covert program included possible use of lethal force by U.S. Special Forces to capture Saddam. But CIA Director George Tenet believed a CIA-only plan would have only a 10 percent to 20 percent chance of success and was more likely preparatory to a military strike, the newspaper said.

"I don't know if we can succeed or not," Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, said on CBS' "Face the Nation" program. "But my argument is, why not try it? ... Yes, we should plan for it, yes, we should try to do it first covertly or with special operations but, if not, be prepared to do what's necessary."

The really amazing thing is that the population there is about 20 million.  I think one 30 megaton could do the trick.  Or even better, take all that surplus nerve gas we're paying a fortune to incinerate and send it to those bastards by airmail.

Then I guess we better wear our second chance vests swung around 180, with the trauma plates IN BACK.

We built their military, and by God we could take it out!!!

Then take the oil and redistribute the wealth for two years to all U.S. citizens, just to get the liberals on our side.
