Well, according to the "article" / blog at least. I never really watched cartoons on Saturday mornings much anyways. IIRC, most of the stuff that I did watch was in other time slots or on cable channels.
https://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/saturday-morning-cartoons-are-but-a-sweet--sweet-memory-192052477.html
I turned on the TV only to discover that the beloved product-placement-heavy 'toons of my own youth were no longer on the big networks. In fact, they weren't anywhere. While the cartoon exodus has been going on for years, this past Saturday morning was the first weekend in 50 years with no morning cartoons of any kind on American television's major networks. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

Why? The FCC's rules regarding required educational programming played a big part, Gizmodo reports. In the '90s, the FCC started requiring networks to air several hours of educational programming per week. NBC and CBS buried their cartoon efforts in the '90s. ABC held on until 2004, before giving up the ghost. The CW was the final holdout with The Vortexx.

I think they have been dead for a while. Most of what I used to watch as far as cartoons were on in the afternoons or weekends at night. Well, except that is, for the ponies

I'm lucky if I can catch Hey Arnold or CatDog at midnight.

Hey Arnold, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the blinding morning sunlight. Good times.

But now it's Ponies and Applejacks for breakfast. I'm happy again.

I think a big reason is that cartoons are so readily available on demand that Saturday morning is no longer a center point.

A sad offshoot is that many kids no longer have all the songs to Schoolhouse Rock memorized.

They went from politically incorrect when I was a kid, into commercials for toys with feelgood messages about everyone being a winner like soccer with no score .

Saturday morning cartoons have been dead since the early 1990s.
