I was looking at S&W's scandium revolvers and noticed that the ejector star is not symmetrical. To be clear, each spoke on the star are not identical. The edges of the star are not perpendicular to the radius vectors. In fact, it looks like the part was machined from a square. Every other revolver I have seen has a symmetric star. Why did S&W make this part differently?

No one knows?

All the newer guns have a rectangular shaped ejector star. This was done to reduce the number of machining cuts needed to make the part.

Thanks!

That makes sense, as I cannot see a functional improvement.

Also eliminating those two pins in the cylinder for the "old" star.
It does make it a bit easier to clean and serves to help keep it in time.
Being "old school"...or just old, it takes some getting used to.
The bane of all revolver shooters is the cleaning, now if they can help that along, I would all for it.
