just saw this at my local sams club today, picked one up since it is almost $150 cheaper than the pelican 1720 case.  just like the pistol cases they had last year for $20, these are great quality and i expect them to sell out quick.

How many latches does it have?

Reason I ask is Academy has a similar know off but has like 87 latches on it. I want to secure one to my roof rack to keep straps, shackles, and other recovery gear in. But I don't want to undo a hundred latches to get to them.

4 latches, it is basically an exact knockoff of the pelican 1720

Thanks for the heads up.  Going to Sam's Club tomorrow to check it out in person.  Wonder how does it compare to the Plano 42" Tactical Case.

I may buy this.  Heading off to the woods in a couple months and may want to sling a rifle but would need to transport via aeroplane.

Thanks for the heads up OP, been needing a couple of decent quality rifle cases for semi long vehicle travel and these fit the bill and are very fairly priced.

What department are they in?

Thanks!

Definitely prefer my wheeled rifle cases with wheels, the wheel-less wheeled rifle cases are such a...wait for it...drag

Thanks OP, gonna check this out for sure.

I don't know how the Pelican cases are set up, but I messed with the Sams club case yesterday and it was definitely built the same as their camera/pistol case (I have two of those).  Rubber seal for the lid, strong latches, pluck and pull foam, and I believe it has a pressure equalization type valve on it as well.  It looks like it would hold two ARs if you disassembled them.

Thanks op there goes another $70 or so...  my sams still had the small cases the last time I went haha not many people look for that stuff at sams here..

Order off the Sams Club website and have it shipped to your store.  It'll be waiting for you to pick up when you get there.

I don't have one of these, but I do have several of the pistol sized cases.  While not quite as nice as the Pelican cases, they are just as functional and pretty sturdy.  I like them, especially for the price.  I will probably pick one of these up.

These seem to be comparable to the Plano all weather cases I've gotten on Amazon that are very similar to the large pelican cases.  They run about that price on sale.

I cannot believe that my SAms club would have that. Do not know where it would be there, but I AM GOING.

Just got back from the Sam's Club in Hendersonville, NC.

They had both the rifle cases AND the pistol cases in stock - oddly the rifles were in the section with the work tables and storage cabinets, and the pistol cases were two aisles over in with the office supply stuff.

Pistol case was $34.99, and a heavy, four latch carrier with a good handle and pick-out foam.

Thanks OP!

I looked all over the store and then asked. At my store they were in a corner near the powerwashers/tie straps/gloves/generators.

I bought two and left the third/last for the next guy.

I went to my local sams to check it out, it was a decent heavy duty rifle case -well worth the price. I passed on it as the Plano aw case seemed abut lighter and a little smaller, I'm looking for a small hard case for the back of my jeep. Definately a good buy if you need a heavy travel rifle case.

I went to my local store, not knowing about this thread, and saw the case and was pleasantly surprised to see the cases. The "pistol" case is listed as a 20 inch case, which is much larger and thicker than the one from last year that I bought.

Pros:
It has 3 layers of foam, I peel and pluck and two sheets of ~1.5-2 inch foam (density of say seat cushions). So if you really wanted to, you can probably cut rectangles out for ammo, layer foam, and pluck for pistols.

Cons:
It was HUGE for a pistol case. Maybe overkill considering you can probably only put in 2 pistols laying flat. If you have smaller pistols, maybe you can cut it to fit vertically.

Now the 44 inch case, "looked" shorter and thicker than my pelican 1720. I didn't need another hard case, but if it has wheels I may go back tomorrow and pick one up since I like to have hard cases for travel.

I wish they would bring back the smaller pistol case. I bought one when it was 20 something bucks, and bought another when it was 15, but ended up giving it to a friend.

I have been using a pair of the $20 pistol cases as saddlebags on my motorcycle for over a year and they have held up great. Still waterproof. I would not hesitate to buy again.

Impulse bought it after finally stopping by a store.

Almost fits my AR and 870. Just a 1/2" or so over the pluck-n-pull foam. I could definitely fit it fine if I broke the AR down.

Can definitely fit two ARs depending on the configuration.

Interior dimensions.
Pelican 1720: 42.00" x 13.50" x 5.25"
Member's Mark: 42.00" x 13.50" x 5.25"

It's a heck of a knockoff.

I am looking for the 20 inch case and only finding a "16." But no stock in my AO.

I didn't check when I went. Did it have wheels? I know the title states it but I think that's a description of the pelican 1720.

Well, I went to Sams today. I have another hard plastic case, but this one has wheels. So, my wife talked me into getting the rifle case and the pistol case.

The pistol case seems too big for a pistol, but I am going to put our new camera in it.

The rifle case was on one of the higher shelves and I could barely reach it and lift it up enough to get it out of the box it was in.

Nice cases good prices. I paid $55 for my other case, it was on sale about 2 years ago.

I looked but didn't buy. They are well made. "Feel" like a pelican. Solid and tight.
Will probably go back later..

I picked one up last night but haven't set it up yet. I got 2 of the other cases for my pistol and cans set up and liked them enough to get on this one too. It's definitely a lot smaller than my current case.

Picked one up yesterday.  Pretty darned good quality for the price.  In fact I did a little online and catalog searching, and you can see this identical case under a few other names.  Most of them were in the $125-$170 range.  Not sure who the real manufacturer is in China, but it looks like others are using the same item.  Looking at some of them, I'm wondering if a couple of the cheaper Pelican cases...just under $200...might not be this case.  Anyone know?

I just bought three of these...two for me and one for my step father. Online showed three stores in St Louis with these cases in stock. I went to one of them and walked the store for 30 minutes looking for these, with no luck. In desperation, I spoke to a manager and asked him about them. He said he hadnt seen them and didnt think they were in stock. I told him they showed online as being in stock and provided him with the item number from the link posted above. He checked the store's inventory using the item number and discovered they had 24 in stock and where they were located, (Aisle 7, bay 7...right with the generators and pressure washers), still crated up and on the top rack of the aisle.

It took them 15 minutes to get the forklift in and bring them down, and like I said, I bought three.

I'm not a fan of pluckable foam, so I may buy some eggcrate foam and use that to replace the pluckable. Havent decided yet.

But it's well made and a great price, and does not say Member's Mark anywhere on the side of the case...only on the paper label wrapped around the case.

One you pluck your foam, use aerosol Plastidip to "secure" the remaining foam.

And I fent. Looked last week and didn't find it. Went to Sam's this week and tripped over them on the unexpected outside aisle. Well made and seems rugged, especially for $70 and now no need to blow the dough on a pelican.
