Alright, we all know that the president has it...but what kind is it?

Will it be left behind when Jorge leaves, or will he keep it?

I will be pissed if he does not keep it.  If he doesn't want it he can give it to the next conservative president.

I think it's a Makarov. There were shitloads of 'em over there at one point.

I heard it was a HiPower as well, but I never heard that Bush had it.  That's very cool.  I would suspect it'll end up in his Presidential library.

It might be.  I had heard a story about an arms dealer selling them clones marked as the real thing.  This was a while back and I have no idea if it was true.

I'd put money on it being a Browning Hi Power.

He cannot keep it as I understand the "gifts" type of situation that you are referring to...they go in some museum or something.

I'm probably botching this up, but I believe that the gifts are to the POTUS and not the individual, and as such, they are for "everyone" or whatever. Bottom line, W is gonna get to keep it on his belt in Crawford.

It would be cool if he/you could keep the gifts.

his balcony rifle is at the 3rd ID museum at Fort Stewart, had a chance to hold that....

also, he had more than one pistol...
I know of one taken from one of his palaces...........

I always heard it was a Hi-Power... I assume a genuine one.  (Do dictators settle for clones?)

I think Bush should be able to keep it and carry it around yelling, "Fuck you!  Fuck you all!"

We found a few of those in B-dad, the odd thing about them was that they were always dissassembled and VERY hidden.
I always wanted to put one back together and shoot it, but EVERYTHING was taken down, springs, trigger and everything.

I have personally seen a gold plated Hi-Power that belonged to Udai Hussein. It was taken from his residence by a highly reliable and capable source.

So we still don't know if it is a Hi-Power or a Makarov?  I have always wondered also what pistol it is.  The President SHOULD be able to keep it if he wants it, in my opinion.  Its an outstanding souvenir from a major despot.

I would piss on it.  Then melt it down and use it for a fucking door stop.

I would be 1000 times as honored to own an upper that had seen use in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom.

I don't know about his own personal one, but I saw boxes of gold-plated Makarovs sitting in a warehouse in 04.

Oh, and some of these:

Thats what I thought -it was  a HiPower.

Bush will keep it and probably put it in his Presidential library when he makes it. I bet it will be between the Pop Up books and the ones that make play music when you press the buttons on the side.

I rember some news footage of Bush holding that pistola.  It was hard to tell, but to me it looked like a Makarov, it was too small to be a high power.

It was given to Bush as a souvenir by some members of delta force.  He has kept it in the oval office all this time and likes to show it off to his guests.

I think he should keep it since it was given to him as a souvenir.

From the article:

Saddam did not use the Makarov pistol tucked into the his belt, or the two AK 47 Kalashnikov semi-automatic rifles he had.

Semi Auto AKs? I guess he didn't want to get into trouble with the BATFE. They would have just surrounded his palace for a few days and then burned it to the ground.
