I was Sworn in this morning as a Police Officer for the city of Gary, Indiana. Just want to say thanks to those of you who helped with this decision. Id like to let you all know we have another 2td amendment supporter working on the LEO side.

Yeah I know Gary is a rough place to work but I chose to work there, didnt want to hold a radar gun all day, I want the expeance they say 1 year in Gary is like 3 years anywere else in the country also after 3 years in Gary any dept. in the country will hire you. Also I know the area I grew up in the white part of Gary. My wife dosent like me working there as I am white and it is mostly black and its the murder capital of the USA like 7 out of the last 10 years but she supports my decision. I dont mind it as I know most people are good no matter what race the are so that dont bother me much.

Good luck and congrats,

At times it is the easiest job around and at other times the most difficult. Keep yourself well grounded and rounded. Don't allow yourself to get too cynical. When I start to get that way my wife let's me know and I appreciate her for it. Keep your friends that you have outside of LEO work. They will keep you in touch with reality. It does'nt matter that they don't know or really care what you do or go thru. I don't care much about the latest accounting tecniques or hottest trends in the construction industry either. And most of all don't ever get the "Us VS. Them" mentality. We are all in this together and all B.S. aside, most or our (govt. employees of one sort or another) wages are paid thru taxes. Keep your compassion.

Remember, It's "Protect and Serve", not "Dominate and Control". Don't let a misguided sense of "brotherhood" with any fellow officer who has "gone rogue" cause you to do something that, in your heart, you know is not right.
