The SPCA held a rally for a couple hundred dog owners and then they all walked their dogs through our downtown area. Although our squad was short handed, we provided two escorts to keep them all from getting run down by all the pissed off motorists. They were all supposed to stay in the right hand lane so that traffic could get by, but of course they didn't follow directions and took up the whole street. They were also supposed to stay in as tight a group as possible, but again, they didn't and got strung out over a few blocks. I was the tail end escort and I did get a good laugh at the woman who was trying to stop her Bull Mastif from taking a HUGE dump right in the middle of the street. Of course she didn't have anything to clean it up with (she needed a shovel and hefty bag for that sucker...) so other owners were running up with plastic shopping bags for her. I had to pass her on by and all the cars behind me were honking at her as she tried to clean it up.
Just thought I would share. Oh, and no dogs (or owners) were shot, either.
