SNL on in the background after the local news. I don't mind SNL for the most part, but...

What the actual fuck just happened with the musical guest??

lol

It's only 2120 hrs on the left coast so I have no idea. What happened?

eta What in the fuck is a Sia? (musical guest)
Link Posted: 1/18/2015 12:21:34 AM EST
I like Sia, but yeah those dancers were interesting.

Sia is Colin Hay's neice. He was the lead singer for Men at Work and had a great solo career after that band. I love Colin and Sia. I think the dancers are just to create more visual interest.

Link Posted: 1/18/2015 12:21:45 AM EST
I don't know anyone who still watches it. Who is the musical guest?

I stopped watching in 1999 or so and it wasn't very funny even then.

These folks?

It's just crazy craziness.

Apparently, flailing around in what looks to be a full body spasm is what passes for talent now.

ETA: I take that back. It looks more like an ADHD kid who drank too much Coke.

ha! was thinking the same thing, pretty much spent the majority of the time like "dafuq?"
Link Posted: 1/18/2015 12:23:09 AM EST
Yeah...I have it on too.

It looked like some bleached out broad singing, and two other bleached out broads in long underwear, having a damn seizure fiesta...while the moaning and wailing went on and totally out of sync.

I used to think Culture club sucked, and Men without Hats were talentless hacks.
Little did I know things could get much, much worse.

SNL is notorious for bad musical performances. I don't know why anyone does it, even highly skilled musicians have bad performances. Bad joo joo or something.

The last good performance I can remember was Faith No More.

In 1990.

Hadn't watched SNL in 10 plus years, but like you, it's on in the background tonight.

It's just some goofball trying to be edgy to make a name for herself. She's like a retarded more retarded Lady Gaga.
Link Posted: 1/18/2015 12:50:55 AM EST
She's got her panties pulled up to her eyes with a signing Mime......
Link Posted: 1/18/2015 12:55:39 AM EST
SNL hasn't come on yet here but I've seen Sia's videos before on YouTube. She has some kind of extreme stage fright and can't sing while facing the audience so if she plays live, she just faces a wall. Pretty good singer though.

Compared to a Muslim call to prayer at a Lepper colony, no.
Compared to the sound a suicidal drunk makes after they have drank liquid draino, no.
Compard to Rap? No

Anything else...pretty much.

I remember that. I was a huge DEVO fan back in the day.
That performance wasn't their best.

It was still 87 times better than that dink Blonde wailing, and her epileptic friends dancing out of sync.
New low, that elevates the previous suck fests.
Link Posted: 1/18/2015 1:06:39 AM EST
Haven't seen a shit performance like that since Blue Oyster Cult performed with that God-awful cowbell player.

Link Posted: 1/18/2015 1:08:01 AM EST
Best was when that Simpson chick got out of lip synch and started just prancing around randomly.

Every once in a great while, they make up for it though:

Yeah that one was insane too but actually good. I remember Mike Patton climbing around the set on one of the songs but the epic performance was truly epic.

I don't know shit about the singer but I watched it because my gf wanted to watch the dancing. Apparently the little girl doing the crazy dancing is one of the top dancers in the country for 12yrs old, Maddie something. Most of her stuff the gf showed me on Youtube is normal, not weird stuff.

she doesn't want to be famous

I saw her a couple months ago on the graham norton show (british) she performed the song and did her interview with her back towards the audience. She had the crappy interpretive dance thing going on next to her, it was uncomfortable

the very first thing I did as google her face, lol

You don't. It's all part of the bullshit "Performance art" faggotry, that cashes in on the Hipsters desire for everything to be "Ironic".

Her voice is mediocre at best. If it wasn't fucking ridiculous she would have zero notoriety...get it?

Wendy O' Williams blew up a school bus, and wore tube socks on her tits. She was ridiculous and made crappy to mediocre music. Same thing...except Wendy was damn serious about it, and this broad is just cashing in.

She's wrote some on the most popular pop songs of the last decade and is worth about $20 million.

The fact that 12-year-olds are nationally ranked according to their dancing abilities is already weird enough

Maddie is one of the dancers in "Dance Moms". Whole lot of crazy on that show. The kids are great, the moms and the dance teacher are nuts.

After having some success her American career beginning with the song used in the finale of "Six Feet Under" and the song (Breath Me) she had a severe mental break down and bouts with alcohol and drug abuse along with an attempted suicide.

She chose to move her career behind the scenes because she could not handle the issues that came with fame and being a public figure. She is an incredible song writer and has authored hits for many modern artist.

I commend her for finding a way of overcoming her personal demons and a way to continue her career. Even if it would seem to be a publicity gimmick to those that do not know her history. The dancing in her performances I can do without but I love her voice.

Covering her face and not facing the camera is a tool she has to use to overcome her personal fears and demons. Like every other artist she has found a way to keep people talking about her and that breeds success.
