I bought some SA .308 battlepacks - you know, the little rubberized "battlepacks."
Should I tear 'em open, and put the ammo into cans, or leave 'em in the battle packs??
Why or why not???

Leave them sealed until you need them. Why would you want to open them and put them in cans?

They are sealed; don't open them unless you are going to shoot the ammo.

Unless you're putting them on stripper clips, in mags, or shooting them, then why pull them out of their sealed, protected environment?

If it were .223 SA battlepacks, I'd say, save 'em, since there don't seem to be any left anywhere to sell, but . cheapo .308 is EVERYWHERE...shoot 'em, if ya got 'em!

I guess my ratio of battle packs to ammo cans is way different than yours. When the SA .223 were plentiful, I bought a lot. I won't shoot any of it until it comes back around.

Its in battlepacks for a reason. Would you open up canned food just to put it in a mason jar and store it? I think not. Same goes with ammo (albeit ammo usually takes alot longer to spoil).

Only an idiot would open a sealed battlepack and then store the ammo. [;D]

Seems kinda like asking the cashier to put your gallon of milk in a bag. Its in great container now. Plastic is your friend
I leave them in the wrapper.

Although it's very difficult, I personally prefer to shoot them and then open the battlepacks. [:D]

Might as well leave them until you shoot em

Damn, I didn't know this. I just saw some at a gunstore for around $0.18 a shot, $55 for 300 rounds. I only bought one...
Edited to say, I will not open the battlepack until I need it.

I love the SA 308. However I had some problems with the SA battle packed .223 in my AR-15. About every fifth round, I would have a failure to extract, and the rifle would try to feed another round into it's base. I had to use a cleaning rod to knock out the fired case. This didn't happen with any other ammo. And I kept my AR very clean. I fired the remainder in my bolt gun.

Put the battlepacks into ammo cans, and then open when needed.
