I didn't know this.  Evidently the Russians have been issuing a gun to cosmonauts.

Pfft.  Space Shuttle door gunners have had guns for years.

Pretty cool looking gun.  I'd buy one if I could find one for not too much money,

It's so they can shoot themselves when their space craft starts falling apart.

I hate clicking on ARFCOM links, so I'll ask, is this that drilling with some odd shotgun caliber for the shotgun barrels (16.5-gauge or something like that) and a 5.45mm cartridge for the rifled barrel?  They issue those for survival purposes in case the trip home goes wrong but they happen to survive.  It's not a bad idea, although the chances of needing it are probably not too high.

They put 23mm cannons on their spy space stations.  And tested them on target satellites.

Nothing gross, just an article.

My computer doesn't seem to like it.  It always stops responding, so I don't click on links that open in new tabs or windows anymore.  It's just a PITA.  It's part of why I hate the new COC that prohibits posting full articles and the like.

Ah, I see. Well it's a 3 barrel gun that they store in a box with a bunch of ammo. They said its there in the event that they land in the wilderness and have to fend off head hunters, or bears.

Soyuz does parachute back to Siberia on every landing, there have been times they've had to wait for the support team to find them due to weather.
