My AR might be capable of 1 MOA with good match grade ammo.
There's no way for my Vepr to shoot 1 MOA unless you strap the sucker into the bench and use custom high velocity reloads with high quality bullets.

A dragunov is issued as a designated marksman's weapon, like guys in infantry squads who get M14's. It blends accuracy and firepower with rapid followup shots, unlike bolt action sniper rifles. Not to say that it hasn't been used by "snipers", but that's not its intended role.

Latest I've heard of is the SV98 which is capable of sub moa accuracy, possibly .5.

I think you misunderstand.

It was designed to be a scoped rifle that fired a powerful cartridge for precision use.

The Dragunov, however, is not as accurate as sniper rifles used by Western nations such as the United States and the UK.

The Soviet doctrine for snipers was different than the US idea of them. Snipers in the Soviet line of thinking were attatched to conventional units and were not as well trained as US snipers are. The Soviet idea was to field lots of Dragunov rifles in the hands of lots of reasonably trained troops. They didn't often venture out in sniper teams like US snipers do.

The Soviet concept behind the Dragunov is more what we would think of as a "designated marksman" than anything else. A person whose task is to support the actions of his/her unit with accurate fire.

kinda funny how it's worked out, isn't it? our dmr program came about cuz someone liked the soviet sop of having a sniper attached at the squad level. the east germans used ram air steerable chutes long before we did. chest rigs were used by chicom forces. shit, even digital camo was invented by the russkies back in ww2! guess it's true, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence!

There are 2 different versions of the Dragunov rifle. The original Russian ones and the newer Romanian ones. The Russian ones where made from machined parts and had much tighter tolerances. They looked like an Ak but were different. The other ones were just a modified AK.

If you search for Dragunov rifles for sale you will see 2 different prices. The AK versions sell for about $700 while the russian one go for $2500.
