The Soviets received hundreds of thousands of them.

They were usually issued to 3rd tier forces due to the non-standard round.

Given. There was really neither lend nor lease about it.

We got plenty back for free when we took them off chicoms in Korea.

Where do you think all those mint condition Thompson parts kits have been coming from the last few years.

This.

The Russians received them with tanks, then boxed them up as they fired a non-standard round.

Every lend lease Sherman tank came with a Thompson in a turret rack apparently.

I read a memoir of a Soviet tank commander who stated most were just thrown out on the side of the road due to the PPSH being a much preferred weapon, never mind the lack of .45acp availability.

You made a grown man cry. BTW, what memoir? I enjoy reading Russian accounts of the war against the hitlerites.

They must have liked the sights, because most of the parts kits I have seen lacked sights.
