Russia proposes joint gas company with IranOct 15, 2008

The managing director of Russian gas company Gazprom in a meeting with the managing director of National Iranian Oil Company in Moscow on Wednesday proposed establishment of a joint oil gas enterprise by the two countries.
Alexy Miller told Seyfollah Jashnsaz that Iran and Russia can cooperate in other countries in the oil and gas sectors through joint venture projects. He also added that Moscow is keen on strengthening collaboration in oil and gas sectors with Tehran.
The two officials also discussed joint investments and setting up of an oil refinery. Iran's Oil Ministry intends to establish an oil refinery in northern Iran and Russia has announced its readiness to cooperate in this respect. Gazprom is considered one of the greatest gas companies in the world, which produces 600 million cubic meters of gas a day.
Currently, Russia is one of the main gas exporters of the world, which meets parts of Europe's gas needs.
