We would all be better off if Ron Paul could have been the republican nominee.  he would have probably been assassinated by the nwo, but he speaks truth to power.  I would have voted for him.  I probably won't even waste my time given the two POS choices we have now.

There's a thread on the subject out there - search 'Gold Bug Thread IV'

That said, this thread is a fishing expedition - and I may be nibbling, but I'm not biting...

The gold standard is nothing but a case of "grass is greener on the other side." Back when we were actually on the gold standard, it was hated, and people argued with far more fervor than the gold-promoters do today that it should be abolished. The gold standard, they claimed, was nothing more than a tool for the rich, and the banks, to oppress the common man. Silver (and inflation, surprise surprise!) would save America!

Yeah.

The gold standard is an idea whose time was over long ago.

Funny, and even with a link AND a "spam" disclaimer several members still didn't "get it"

Gold standard = WTF.

However, after experimenting with the bait, this fish decided to go kick it old school with a few bugs.

There isn't a single economy in the world that has gold-standard currency (that I know of).

Classic case of "bad money drives out good".

AS in the "CRoss of gold" comment/speech by William Jennings Bryan.   Can't have an expanding or growing economy and a fixed gold standard.  Sort of like putting 5 quarts into a 1 gallon (US) container.
