CLEVELAND -- The Browns finally landed quarterback Robert Griffin III four years after they almost gave up the farm to get him.
This time, they didn't have to surrender three first-round picks and acquire him. A street free agent, he was waived by the Redskins March 7th. They signed Griffin to a two-year deal worth $15 million, including a $3.5 million signing bonus and $6.75 million in guarantees. The maximum value, including incentives, is $22 million. The $7.5 million average is "bridge'' quarterback money and won't preclude the Browns from drafting a quarterback high. Griffin's departure from the team that picked him No. 2 overall in 2012 after surrendering three first-round picks and one second-rounder came after a season in which he was demoted to third-string quarterback behind Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy. In Cleveland, Browns coach Hue Jackson will try to revive the career of the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowler. If he starts, as expectd, he'll be the 25th quarterback to start a game for the Browns since 1999. The Browns also engaged in preliminary trade talks with the 49ers for Colin Kaepernick, but couldn't strike a deal. "We are excited about Robert joining the Cleveland Browns," Jackson said in a release. "He brings starting experience to our team and organization. He's a young, athletic, talented passer and he's really just starting out in this league. Just like every player on our team, Robert will have to earn every opportunity he gets. He will compete with the rest of the quarterbacks on our roster and he helps improve our QB room, which was one of my goals upon taking the job. "It's a special room and we want to put special people and players in that room. We are looking forward to working with Robert, as well as the rest of the quarterbacks on our roster. We have a lot of work to do to prepare to be the best QB room in the NFL and we look forward to the challenge that lies ahead." Interesting. The Browns are always the dark horse team I pull for.

Well, I guess they didn't sell the franchise to get him, so one would think this can't go toooooo horribly wrong. However it is Cleveland.

Shit O-Line and no receivers with a flimsy QB. What could possibly go wrong?

He's going to be the 25th QB for CLE since 1999. He's snake bit and is going to be injured before the bye week. It's almost like when Modell moved the Browns to Baltimore he created the biggest curse in modern sports history. Baltimore goes on to win a ring and the Browns continue to make terrible decisions. |

Lol.
One of my favorite games of last year was watching the Ravens block their game winning field goal and running it all the way back. |

Has RGIII seen our O-line? He's going to buy his orthopedic surgeon a new boat by mid season, if not earlier.

Might as well of traded the picks back then, not even looking it up, but i bet a 4 were busts.
Could of had maybe 1 winning season like the skins did. |

I kinda think RG3 will do well in Cleveland.... Not pro-bowl or playoffs well, but I think he'll be Ok (middle of the road NFL QB) and better than the QB situation they've had.
Manziel/McCown < RG3 I think it's a good signing; especially with a guy like Jackson running the show. |

Do people honestly give a fuck?
It's asinine to be infatuated with this bullshit. I can't believe so many people are held under this spell for so long. If you like football, basketball, whatever, go fucking play it. Dedicating huge portions of your life to admiring illiterate dullards who read at a fourth grade level is an opiate that sucks energy and life out of you. |

Maybe the only quarterback who prompted more heated arguments without playing in a Super Bowl over the last four years was that kid with the catchy nickname and the love of Vegas, the one whose every utterance guaranteed a slew of headlines and stories that readers would complain about even as they voraciously devoured. And now Johnny Football will pass the Cleveland quarterbacking torch to Griffin. The pass will land out of bounds. Then Griffin will injure himself trying to pick it up. Sorry, not a jock but the best years were when they moved to B'more.
Less traffic and crappy attitudes on monday mornings at work. But yeah I watch it now...good excuse to drink beer and laugh. "Next year" they say...all my life. |

One bad decision after another....
There is a reason the Browns are truly mocked. |

Good old fargo007 probably doesn't watch TV, movies, read magazines, or listen to music either because that would be considered entertainment. Just like watching pro sports. fargo007 is probably not a James Bond fan either and has been trolling those who seek entertainment ever since he picked his username here. |
