Women, children, poor people, and minorities disproportionately affected.
(Reuters) - Rising sea levels cannot be stopped over the next several hundred years, even if deep emissions cuts lower global average temperatures, but they can be slowed down, climate scientists said in a study on Sunday. A lot of climate research shows that rising greenhouse gas emissions are responsible for increasing global average surface temperatures by about 0.17 degrees Celsius a decade from 1980-2010 and for a sea level rise of about 2.3mm a year from 2005-2010 as ice caps and glaciers melt. Rising sea levels threaten about a tenth of the world's population who live in low-lying areas and islands which are at risk of flooding, including the Caribbean, Maldives and Asia-Pacific island groups. More than 180 countries are negotiating a new global climate pact which will come into force by 2020 and force all nations to cut emissions to limit warming to below 2 degrees Celsius this century - a level scientists say is the minimum required to avert catastrophic effects.... http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/07/01/us-climate-sealevel-idUSBRE8600EG20120701 |

Sounds like we better give more of our money to the government.
It's our only hope! |

Another promise broken by Obama.
All Bush's fault, of course.... |
|
Anyone ever done that trick where you fill a cup with ice and water up to the top and let it melt. And the level of water doesn't change. So, yeah...
Bitch please. |
|
A news organisation is still putting out "global warming" reports?
That was sooo 2009 ago. |

Earth is currently in an Ice Age at this very moment. The definition for an Ice Age is when there is permanent ice on either pole. The normal condition for earth for the entirety of its' history is when the planet is not experiencing an Ice Age. Interesting how the media never points this out and always lies about the earth reverting to an Ice Age if the (so-called) warming continues (regardless of the cause), instead of saying that it is a beneficial trend that the earth is finally coming out of an Ice Age after MILLIONS of years.

2.3 mm is nothing. It could be that big orange ball in the sky.

Everyone needs to head to the beach with a bucket, if we start bailing it out now, we might keep the ocean from getting to full!

A news organisation is still putting out "global warming" reports? That was sooo 2009 ago. Fuck man... This shit was coming out and the first "new " Earth Day back in 1990. These people need to http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HvpykzRA3wg/S11JjiLxYBI/AAAAAAAAAMw/olWywsgtdxo/s400/fuck-off-kitty.jpg From "The First Global Revolution", Club of Rome, 1992: “Sacrilegious though this may sound, democracy is no longer well suited for the tasks ahead. The complexity and the technical nature of many of today’s problems do not always allow elected representatives to make competent decisions at the right time.” -page 71 "In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself." -page 75 |

So, it's gonna rise suddenly and wipe out people along coasts? What a load of paranoialiberalism.

That's right. We cannot do shit about it, therefore we also do not need to fund anymore tax scams or laws.

So now we think we're big enough as a race to stop the natural cycles of the planet? The arrogance of these people is truly, utterly astonishing. When these emissions cuts fail to drop the increase to below 2 degrees Celsius, what then? Will they admit that they were wrong. These fuckers might as well be hoping to get swept away on the tail of a comet. |

It never ceases to amaze me that people will try to force the commitment of untold trillions of dollars worth of economic disaster to trying to prevent something that is likely inevitable, and won't invest a cent figuring out how to live on a warmer planet.
Of course, then they propose we move elsewhere, because we have "ruined" this world, so I suppose the logic is essentially absent from their thinking. |

There is a documentary of some guy who is the president of some little string of islands begging at the UN to save his little island nation from "disappearing due to global warming". It might be on netflix streaming but I can't remember the name now. He went on to claim that Manhattan could disappear under the waves so I've had both cars idling the driveway constantly since I saw that.
|

Yeah, it has been rising for the last 13,000 years. That's plenty of time to move to some higher ground.

Look I like global warming, it makes Arfcom women wear low cut shirts.

BS hysteria to get more money to 'study' the problem.
So they can then conclude they need more money to 'study the problem'... So they can then conclude they need more money to 'study the problem'... See a pattern yet? |
