Street Race Crash, Four Injured LAGUNA NIGUEL — Two vehicles with a total of seven occupants collided in Laguna Niguel today, leaving a 17-year-old boy in extremely critical condition and two other people with lesser injuries, authorities said.
The two drivers may have been racing, according to authorities.
One of the vehicles crashed into a wall, sending chunks of bricks and concrete flying into a nearby house, whose 68-year-old owner suffered minor injuries when he was struck by debris, said Orange County sheriff's Lt. Ted Boyne.
A
Pontiac Aztec SUV with five teenagers inside and a
red Honda CRX were speeding in the same direction in the area of Alicia Parkway and Crown Valley Parkway when the Pontiac "clipped the Honda" at about 3:20 a.m., causing the SUV driver to lose control and crash into a brick wall, Boyne said.
A 17-year-old boy was thrown from the back of the SUV and suffered extremely critical injuries, authorities said. Boyne said the boy was in "grave condition." Another 17-year-old boy, the brother of the Honda driver, suffered head injuries that are considered "moderate," Boyne said.
Both injured boys are from Mission Viejo. Their names were not immediately released.
The driver and one passenger in the Honda were uninjured, said sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.
