What's wrong with encouraging conservation?  Especially simple stuff like what they're suggesting on this site.  Caulking cracks in your windows and fixing leaky faucets aren't exactly radical ideas, and they help people save wasted money.

Plus, if the gov can encourage some people to cut back a bit on their energy usage, it keeps them from having to spend so many billions (of our money) upgrading the utility grid.

I guess I just don't see a problem here.  Plus, they are also sponsored by Home Depot, an insulation manufacturer, and some non-profit groups.

You are paying for radio ads too, that's how I found it.
