RESTRICT EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS WEAPONS
Archived on 4/28/2002
Some weapons, like machine guns, are simply too dangerous to be sold over-the-counter. One example is the 50 caliber military sniper rifle that the gun industry has begun aggressively marketing. These weapons, which can pierce armor from well over a mile, pose a deadly serious terrorist threat. There is absolutely no reason such for such weapons to be sold over-the-counter. H 5742 would require the state Department of Public Safety to identify exceptionally dangerous weapons that have no sporting or self-defense purpose. Please contact contact Gov. John Rowland and your state legislators and tell them to support H 5742 to restrict exceptionally dangerous weapons.
