I can't think of one single, standalone episode of a sitcom that even comes close to "The Germans" episode of Fawlty Towers.

If anyone else can think of a sitcom episode that comes close, name it.

And no, cartoons don't count as sitcoms.

So that's a Joseph Goebbels, a Herman Goering and two Colditz salads ?

..................... Don't mention the war, I did - but I think I got away with it.

Britcoms in general rule!

I always liked "Are You Being Served?" The box set costs like $200 bucks, otherwise I'd have bought it by now.

"Dont talk about the war!"

I worked with a German on in her late 60's, our co-workers indeed said 'DONT BRING UP THE WAR!'

Immediately thought of Faulty Towers.

Glad to see your avatar back, raven.

BTW, Black Adder was the funniest thing I had ever seen up to that point in my life.

"Stop talking about the war!"
"But you started it!"
"No we didn't. You invaded Poland!"

I preferred the Rat episode. "Is Pedigree Siberian Hamster"

To answer the initial question, however, Blackadder Goes Forth is definitely up there with the Royal Flying Corps episode, and Father Ted's Christmas Special is a good one too.

I also highly appreciate Yes, Prime Minister's "The Key" episode, less uproarious, but far more intelligent humour.

Ze Fallen Madonna wit za big boobiez, you mean.

Another classic show. Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once...

Now, for serious nerdness, what was Lieutenant Grueber's Little Tank?

Fawlty Towers is consistently named the best britcom of all time. Which is amazing since there were only 13 episodes.

I enjoy Father Ted the most. I also like Allo' Allo', Open All Hours, Fools and Horses, Black Adder, Are You Being Served?, and the orginal, Monty Python's Flying Circus.

I also love The Royale Family. A show that could never be pulled off in America.

It's sunday night, you can guess what I'm watching for the next 3 hours on PBS.

He's from Barcelona......

Fawlty Towers had its moments. And I couldn't escape the conviction that Connie Booth was hot.

I loved that show. It's hard to imagine that the guy who plays House was in that.

What I can't figure is why PBS in my area took Fawlty Towers off and put in that crap "As Time Goes By"?

I roll on the floor when FT is on.

FWIW, Fawlty Towers was awesome but I personally think the single funniest episode of anything I've seen is the "Kuzizza y'all!" episode of Talk Radio was the single funniest thing I've seen... Call me a heretic - I love FT as well - but hearing Bill O'Neill say "Rocket Fuel Malt Liquor ... DAMN!" just lights up my life for some reason...

The BBC's "The Office" is so much better that your NBC's "The Office". In fact, yours is downright lame.
