In another debate i've been having. A fellow gun owners believes that it is your responsibility to make an effort to secure your weapon from theft. While i agree with the logic of buying a safe or lock box of some type. I dont beleive someone should be held liable because a criminal stole a weapon from a persons home. What is your view on such a topic? unsafe lib

I don't believe that people should be held liable for failing to secure a firearm unless there is a lot of negligence involved. Some one who lives alone need not secure his guns, but a person who has a day care center in his house had better do something to secure his weapons.

So by some people's logic, if I happen to carelessly leave my laptop where it can be stolen (lets say I left it on the kitchen table), and a thief breaks into MY house, steals it, then later uses it to download or traffic in kiddie porn, It's somehow MY fault and I'm liable???? Common sense is really not that common anymore.
