Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Removing delta ring and barrel nut

Hi guys.

I plan on adding a YHM free float and I know I will need to remove the barrel nut and delta ring.

Do I need an action block or could I just use a shaped peice of hardwood slid up into the magwell and tightened in a vice.

I would get the action block. You always eventually get one anyway. The wood is going to slip and gouge the crap out of something when you least expect it.

I suggest the clamshell block for the upper.  You may be OK to remove the barrel with a magwell block, but you risk twisting something if you need to wrench hard on the nut going back together.
