The owner of the local gun store told me this morning that he's going to stop carrying Remington because they're moving all their manufacturing to China.

Anyone else heard that rumor?

I have read that Remington Products Corp (i.e., electric shavers, etc.) is moving to China.

ETA: I think the above is "old" news- year or so ago IIRC.

Did Remington have a Union? Chinese make good guns but thier Gov. screws with companies that do business thier through knock off merchandise and other practices. Remington should have went to Taiwan or S. Korea.

Wrong country...

Remington is starting to outsource production. For instance, they have or soon will be importing arms from Serbia and Russia. Ironically, the factory producing the Serbian rifles was bombed by the USAF a few years back.

I would put lawdog's "reliable source in south Florida" (R)(TM) several magnitudes of credibility higher than your average gun store pundit.

smith and wesson's frames are made in brazil
springfield "amrory's" recievers are made in taiwain
might as well keep the trend up.

While not putting down the "reliable source in south Florida" (R)(TM), I've met Navy Seals, SAS Commandos, and secret industry insiders at gun stores. Those guys always know what's going on.

If they say Remington is going to China, then I fully expect to see a "made in China" sticker on my next PSS.

I doubt.

Import gun laws are bs.

Most guns are made in the USA for a reason.

Springfield slides are made in Brazil, not the frames. Smith does not import anything from Brazil, and now makes the Sigma/MP pistols 100% domestically. (Formerly, parts were shipped from Walther in Germany.)

I think Springfield guns are from Croatia, not Taiwan or Brazil.

If Remington made firearms in China, wouldn't they fall under the regulations banning Chinese arms into the US?

They already are importing them from Russia. Their Spartan line of shotguns are made in Baikal, Russia. I have one of the single shot 20 ga. . Nice shotgun, beautiful wood and shoots great.

Haven't heard the thing about Remington going to China. As others have said, I don't believe anything I hear or am told at a gunshop/gunshow. Considering it was the place I heard the infamous NVA/VC ammo does work in the M16 (or visa versa) b.s. . If they did though, that's a shame. I like the 870.

I hope so, though I believe that they cover only those arms sold by Chinese Communist Party front companies such as Norinco and Polytech.

This is just what we need, yet another industry outsourcing to China.

Hey maybe Dumbya can modify his daddy's executive order to ban ALL firearms made in China? Ha... like that's likely.
