2020 American Battle Buddies Warfighter Challenge
30-31OCT2020
Somewhere in Central Montana
American Pioneer Corps Website

Who: Open to any individuals who have, by 30 days before the event, achieved at least a 3rd Class Battle Buddy rating from anywhere in the country, or who are active, reserve, or retired military. Other entries may be permitted by request on a space available basis.

What: Multiple individual and team events over a 36 hour period that will be both physically and mentally taxing.

When: The event will begin at sunrise 30OCT2020.

Where: Central Montana on Serenity Valley Ranch and in the surrounding area. Closest airport is Billings.

Why: To test personal and team skills and limits, build comradery, and provide the American Battle Buddies with a national event that encourages and rewards martial spirit and skills.

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”

-Robert A. Heinlein

Update 1:

We are now open for registration.  To register, simply post that you are 100% in.  Please include in your post which category you are registering under, and whether you will be joined by non-competitor guests.  The categories for registration will be split three ways, and in order of priority are listed below:

Battle Buddy (Please include date you achieved your Battle Buddy rating in your registration post)

Military or Cola Warriors (Please include in your post your branch of service or that you are a Cola Warrior)

Other Standby (You will be placed on a wait list pending available slots 30 days out)

*If you intend to be paired with a specific participant for the buddy team events, please indicate who that person is in your post.  They must also indicate you as a partner in their post. Also please specify if you are coming with a particular Battle Buddy group for Team Events.

Please note the following:

Closest airport is Billings, approximately a 2 hour drive.

We are currently accepting 36 participants, which will be squaded for final events into 9 person teams. Standby participants may be allowed to fill out empty slots, or potentially participate in excess of the 36 current openings.  That decision will be posted 30 days prior.

Camping on site is welcome. The conditions on site will be for all intents and purposes backwoods camping, so please be prepared accordingly.  Nearest town/building open to public is a 30 minute drive.  You will need to bring your own drinking water for the entirety of your stay.  We can provide you with well water for cleaning up/washing off. Please be neat.

Family/Friends are encouraged to attend as spectators (or, if qualified as participants).

We strongly discourage trailers or RVs due to potential road conditions if there has been heavy rain.

At that time, I'll be moving.

My liberal use of the word, "fuck" is usually a dead giveaway.
Plus...it's just so versatile.

Will this make allegiance to Texas Man problematic for existing NBB disciples?

This sounds very similar to an event ive done before.  It was on an exotic island and it had a similar course of events.

One of the "buddy events" should be helping me move all my household goods into my new place.  I also own a two-ton safe.  I want it in the basement.

This is going to be either right before or during my PCS.  Exactly when I leave will determine if I can make it.

At least downstairs is easier than up...?

But for reals, what stage of moving are you guys in at the beginning of June? It's a day-trip from the big city, just sayin'.
I'll be relatively useless and looking after a 3-month-old, but can at least pretend to watch yours, too
I'm sure some bribery could encourage help your way a day before or after.

I think that would depend on the budget. I imagine that we might get some ARF vendors to contribute something.

Personally I am not doing it to win, I am doing it to make sure I can still do it. Should I win a placque would be something I would enjoy. But I am old, and I have lots of gear...

You missed an opportunity to make a "Goose laying golden eggs" joke... though I seriously doubt Carla will be ready by then.

Will there be a section with a desk and a slow computer in a dimly lit room where you have to sit with a mouth-breathing coworker with bad hygiene for 12 hours while having to stay awake?

All of the sections you listed are very infantry oriented, and is discriminatory against those of us in the Navy.

I simultaneously love and hate that I laughed at this...

...but that's not a prize anyone should have to win, it's a F&*%ing right.

I'll likely still be deployed when this goes on, but if there's any way I might be able to chip in a few bucks to help out, somebody please pull me aside.

My son and I have decided we are in.  We'll figure out how to 'officially' meet the physical requirements (I don't think they'll be a problem) and just plan our summer around this event.

I will also work on being able to provide some sort of a prize and if I need to help with any organization I will.

Thanks
