Posted these in a couple of other places, thought I'd throw them out here.
Link Posted: 5/1/2009 5:27:26 PM EST
That's a lot of work for ammo cans, but they look great!
Link Posted: 5/1/2009 5:27:56 PM EST
Came out good. I'd do mine but they would look like shit soon after. I kick the shit out of my ammo cans.
Link Posted: 5/1/2009 5:29:12 PM EST
They did come out great, but why?

Link Posted: 5/1/2009 5:30:24 PM EST
Good job. I really like those. Is that spray on liner on the bottoms?
Link Posted: 5/1/2009 5:30:44 PM EST
Looks good...they decals or stencils?

I was thinking about getting some bolt face decals to stick on mine
Link Posted: 5/1/2009 5:30:49 PM EST
Looks nice. Ammo cans are good place to practice your camo painting skills before actually trying it on a weapon.

How'd you do it. What kind of surface prep and paint was used.

I don't even own an ammo can

I should be purged!

Swine Flu vaccine containers!!!!!! They look good!

Can you post more pics and info? I like what looks like bedliner stuff on the bottom to keep them from sliding around in the back of a pickup truck.
Link Posted: 5/1/2009 7:13:50 PM EST
Thanks all for the kind words.
Every time I do a Dura Coat project, I have leftover DC, so I started prepping ammo cans to make good use of the DC that I had previously been throwing away. The Razorbacks are handcut stencils. It's really pretty easy and it didn't take that long. I blasted the original finish off the cans, then degreased and sprayed. Easy, and a good way to refurbish my ammo cans with extra finish.

They look good. You know, you could sell those.
Link Posted: 5/1/2009 7:18:11 PM EST
If you'll do the Longhorns I'll buy some. Seriously.

Link Posted: 5/1/2009 7:18:36 PM EST
Well done. Stick some on e-bay.

It is 3M spray rubberized coating on the bottom. I don't know how long it will hold up, but thought I'd give it a try.
Yep, this is a bit much for ammo cans, but it's better than throwing out the extra Dura Coat.
And yes, it is good practice for camo jobs:

Damnit now I'm gonna have to go paint my ammo cans.

Krylon is great! I just sometimes have leftover Dura Coat, so I decided to put it to good use rather than throwing it out.

My bad. I thought we were in GD and a little SEC ribbing was acceptable. I like the cans, FWIW. You did a good job.

Link Posted: 5/13/2009 7:35:40 PM EST
all of mine are stenciled for M2 Ball and are pretty much all filled to the brim with clipped 30-06

The razorback. Is there a website that I can download that pic in that size (for stencil-making), or will I need to enlarge it?
Link Posted: 6/3/2009 6:35:27 PM EST
I did a google search for Razorback Logo, then saved it and enlarged it. Then, I printed it on some adhesive label paper:
label paper

I cut the dark parts out with scissors and an Xacto knife.

Gr8santini,

Are you using the spray on the bottom of the cans to keep them from slipping?
