What are your thoughts on red dots for carry guns?
I have an RMR on my G19 and will never go back to irons on a carry gun. |

If I were looking for a new carry gun, it would absolutely be a Sig 365 with a reddot.

Yes.
Speed and accuracy are important in a carry gun. Now… let’s settle in for the retardation: - You’ll only have to shoot to 3/5 yards max so just point shoot. - You’ll never use your sights if you have to use your gun. - Some kind of derp about never trusting batteries. - At least one person who doesn’t understand that you leave the optic turned on all the time. - “I tried it but was searching for the dot all the time so I went back to irons.” - That one guy who has apparently seen a shit ton of crap-tier MRDSs fail so obviously RMRs also fail at the same rate. - BUT IT WILL TOTALLY FOG UP. - Some kind of bullshit about how it is too bulky for carry or it will catch on your clothes during draw/presentation. - BUT MUH IRONS NEVER FAIL |

A month ago, my answer was no.
But now I have a P365X with an RDS, and my answer is "the future is now, old man". |

Not bulky. |

I’m seriously considering it
My eyes ain’t what they used to be, it’s getting hard to see the irons even with a big white dot on the Trijicon front sight |

Now that I've arrived, I'd put RMR's on every pistol I could afford to even if my eyesight was still perfect. |

I want to but it seems like it's expensive to get into. And I can't seem to find decently priced ammo to be able to practice it and get it right. Is pretty much the only durable option an RMR or are some of the Holosuns G2G? Maybe the Deltapoint Pro? Also if I already have Trijicon HDs would that be good enough for suppressor height?

lol...thinks will have time to turn on a devise, aim and shoot during a shoot-out for your life.

View Quote Dryfire to snap in. Confirm with live fire. Holosun is good to go. DPP: Gen 1 (green circuit board) are absolutely not durable enough for long term use on a reciprocating slide. Gen 2 (blue circuit board) might be, but the verdict is still out. Neither are sufficiently durable for duty use in terms of drops of rough handling. |

Absolutely.
I was skeptical, but I wanted to try it before I made up my mind. I bought a P365XL with a 507k and I'll probably never carry anything else again. |

Meh.
I have plenty of rounds on an RMR’d Glock. I RMR all the things. Because reasons. And I hate money. From entanglement out to 10 yards or so it’s a wash. I’ll still be carrying an iron sighted G43 because it’s little, it’s light, it’s cheap, and I’m lazy. |

Quoted: My astigmatism says no View Quote @CircaSid Same here, My 509T has an additional circle-dot reticle that really helps locate dead center of POI, only additional thing would be to find the most accurate brightness that is still quick w/ wml on or bright day. The brighter it is in front of you, the finer the dot will be |

Where to send pistol off to get milled? Don't even think of saying tooth and nail armory.

I tried it but didn't see what it brought to the table other than something else to fail.
