I'm using Yahoo! Mail right now. I don't like it. I don't like the new user interface; I don't like that I'm not sure what they're doing with my data. And I don't like that I cannot use Outlook with it and have it store my sent emails where I can access them from the web. (they give POP and SMTP access, but their outgoing SMTP server does not store your sent emails in your sent items).

Setting up an Exchange server seems excessive in cost and time.

I could use GMail, but I'd rather not have the same people that know what I look at on the web and what I search for have any more information on me.

What do you guys recommend? Hotmail? Is there a decent managed service provider that would fit my needs?

ETA: I just stumbled onto the Amazon Simple Email Service. This may be the ticket. I kindof like Amazon anyways. They don't seem to use their market power to influence any type of political belief –– you can buy gun parts and accessories on Amazon.

Just use imap and gmail.


They don't care about your goat pron emails so stop worrying.

Set-up a simple website and host your own e-mail.  It's the way to go, and you'll have your own image hosting resource etc., etc.  It's easy and not expensive.

www.godaddy.com is who I use, and they are excellent.

For almost nothing, you can get your own web domain and a bunch of email accounts on GoDaddy.com.

I'm not worried about google having access to my goat pron emails, but when I delete them, I don't want a subpoena causing them to show up during my congressional approval of my supreme court nomination.
