Looking to get my dad a nice bottle of rum for fathers day. He's a huge fan Captain Morgan Private Stock particularly but I want to take it up a level. Post up your favorite rums and a general running price for a bottle.

Sailor Jerry is my favorite spiced rum.

Pampero is good. Comes in a leather pouch.

My favorite is Brugal Anejo.

I used to own a liquor store, and tested pretty much every liquor imported into this region. RUm was our largest segment.

Depends on what you are looking for. My wife and I enjoy Appleton and Flora Da Cana, I like Sailor Jerry's as well, but my wife enjoys it more for cooking than drinking (issues with spiced rum). One of my favorites was NO Rum, but I expect they are silent now. Pusser's is unique , supposedly the old Royal Navy blend. Just understand Rum is not what it used to be - Pusser's is almost a meal in itself.

If you really want to mess him up, some good 'ole Jamiacan Over Proof Wray & Nephew.

Capt Morgan.

Why pay more to get drunk?

Sailor Jerry's for spiced rum.

I drink Flor de Cana 21 year in the summer. It's an excellent rum. Very smooth with a heavy caramel note on the leave with just a touch of vanilla. Pyrat XO Reserve is also a very good dark rum and Pyrat Cask 1623 will floor you, both with the taste and the $100 price tag. We drink a ton of Mount Gay Eclipse as rum and Coke on the sailboat I race on and it's fair to good. Mount Gay Extra Old is way more drinkable and has the nice, smooth caramel flavor a good dark rum should have.

If he drinks spiced rum, just get him Capt. Private Stock. It's what he wants anyhow, you know.

It's like asking what's the best cut of steak, but you're only going to eat it if it's well done and drenched in A1. So what's the point?

When I drink rum, it is to get drunk or at least moderately drunk. I only get drunk maybe 2x a year, predominately at my wife's work Christmas Party and another is on our family vacation with my in-laws. Both instances it is a form of coping/self medication.
I usually keep a Sixer in the fridge and finish it over the course of a week or two. Nothing like a cold beer with dinner during the summer time.

Oh hell yes.
Went to Lake Whitney this weekend and Pareya's recommended this to me as I was looking at the Captain Morgan varieties. Quite good.

My favorite light sipping rum. Very smooth, loads of flavor, but not heavy or too sweet. About $40 a bottle.

Don't listen to these goons....get right to the liquor store, and tell the clerk you want a half gallon of Aristocrat rum, and that you'll accept nothing else. You're welcome!

Vizzini: Not remotely. Because iocane comes from Australia, as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you.

Yes, I know it's 10 cane rum, but i couldn't resist.

I'm pretty much a scotch drinker, but I've found Pusser's to be very good.

Zacapa or Zaya. I prefer the Zaya, but they're both top shelf sipping rums.
