I heard today that it was figured that the costs for rebuilding New Orleans could reach 100 billion dollars. The city has a population of approximately one-half million people. If my math is correct, that's roughly $200,000 per man, woman and child.

How about if we just give them each $100,000 and tell them to go find a different place that is above sea level?

There, I just saved $50,000,000,000.

I'm completely serious.

Rebuild the port aspect of the city that we need for pumping oil and that's it.

$25 Billion will come from insurance.

We could just get states to forgo the recent pork injections in the budget and get another $27 billion...Politicians should contribute too....!!!!!. That leaves the "gift" end of it at $50 billion, or about $160 per man, woman or child.
