I hope the Russians get ripped a new one. It'll take their mind off of doing excercises with China....

Well they got their ass handed to them in Afghanistan after 10 years of fighting, and they are still trying to take Chechnya a nation with no standing army, after how many years? They may not be bad people but they have piss poor leadership and a weak military.
We took Afghan in just how many months?

You may recall, we weren't fighting the Afghans for the most part, but the Taliban which comprised a much smaller portion of the population than the entirety of the populace the Russians faced.

Not saying the Russians are the greatest, but comparing the two Afganistan campaigns is not really fair.

The US had popular support, as well as using a large local Army (Northern Alliance) as our ground forces.  THe US actually paid them millions of dollars per objective.

2nd, the US is not done either. We took the major areas very quickly (just like the Russians) but outside of them, parts of Afganistan is still no-mans land.

2nd, we are still fighting in Iraq allmost 3 years after taking over. And we are not fighting against a standard standing Army.
