Is there any reason why a 12yo pit bull would have super rancid death breath from hell?

Any way to treat it?

No, just pure rotting carcas with a touch of ass

What's he been eating outside, poop, critters, ect...?

I know it sounds weird, but I believe it burts Bees or something like that that makes mint liquid breath freshener for dogs or humans. It comes in a bottle with a dropper and works. My dog ate a nasty rotting squirrel and it cleared up his nasty breath, since he thinks it's funny to burp in your face I had to do something.. Can get it at one of those health food stores.

Brush his teef. The doggy may have a build up of tartar that may cause the smell. You can also check the inside of the mouth for anything out of the norm (Had a Rotty with mouth cancer )

My JRT has the same problem... Massive halitosis

In the manner you may have meant that....I'll pass.

As for the dog? What are you feeding him?

Might want to step in up in the food department. And give him a large bone to chew on.

You shouldnt make out with dogs.

Bad teeth.

Check his teeth and gums. Loose teeth, decay, and gingivitis will lead to huge problems (read $$$ at the vet)

Ask me how I know

maybe hes eating his own shit....go figure out

He needs his teeth cleaned. By you or himself. If he's a chewer, keep him supplied with rawhides or dentibones, etc.

Get some of those rope toys that look like dental floss. They love to shread them and it does wonders for their teeth and gums. Clean mouth = better breath. They only drawback is my adult male pit would destroy a $6 rope toy in about a day.

Maybe because he is licking his ass and balls and doesn't brush his teeth afterwards?

Because that's what other dog's turds smell like....

Brush his teeth and gums regularly, inspect for lesions, sores, puss etc. Gibe him crunch nones and ropes toys to chew on. get some chloropphyl tabs for him..

He is probably commiting Turd Burglary when you let him outside. For some reason many dogs love eating other dogs turds. Out here you can give a dog a fat piece of elk meat on the bone and as soon he is done you will still catch him sneaking a dog turd. I think dogs consider turds after dinner breath mints.

If its really bad it could be rotting teeth.
Link Posted: 6/16/2009 1:03:56 AM EST
We give our dog a Greenie every month...clears nasty turd breath right up.

My dog has bad breath when he ventures outside even if its for a couple of minutes and doesn't eat anything. It has to be something with his glands or something, maybe the hot weather. Very strong odor but goes away a few minutes later after returning inside.

Soft canned food diet creates perfect conditions for bacteria in the mouth which will lead to caries and perio problems. The reason it smells like rotting flesh is that there is organic decomposition taking place in there.

At 12 years old your dog is considered elderly. It would not be advisable under most circumstances to anesthetize the dog for a cleaning and exam as it would for say a four year old dog. If it has to be put under for another more pressing reason, then you may want to consider having the vet tend to the dogs mouth at that time.

You can cover the odor to some extent, but for the most part you aren't going to fix this at this stage in the animal's life.

after you check his health status, change his diet to one of raw meaty bones. google the barf diet (bones andd raw food). his breath will be better than yours right after you brush.

Get the critter's teeth cleaned and add a spoonful of yoghurt to his food every morning.

Could be bad teeth. Can also be sign of kidney/liver problems.

12 year old dog, get it checked by a vet.

It's more than likely this.

Get his teeth fixed up and be sure to give him bones to keep them in good shape.
