A few weeks ago my best friend of 23 of my 33 years decided to end his life. His name was Pat Eckford. Pat was a shooter and a great guy, he went with Gunbert, FirearmTom1 and I to the Crossroads show in Phoenix last July and met Shawn from Cav-Arms. No one has any idea why he did this and his mom who lives on a fixed income has had to cash out her CD's to afford to bury her son. She had him buried on top of his father who died almost 10 years earlier to the day he died. The funeral was very simple and it still ran over $12,000. Shawn from Cav-Arms has donated a new style Cav-Arms stripped lower (value of $175), there are also other prizes, look below to see. The tickets are $5 each and no limit to buy. The raffle will end on April 18th at midnight and I will have at least 3 AR15.com team members here to help me with the drawing on April 19th.
[red]The prize list is growing due to the generosity of some great members of this site. Here is the updated prize list. 1. I'm in. My condolences to the family. If anyone reading this feels like life is just not worth living anymore, please reconsider. If you need someone to talk to please feel free to contact myself or the board. We all have problems, some problems just seem to be too much to handle. Please talk it over before doing something drastic. Many of us have been there and can relate, let's stick together.

That is very tragic, and unnecessary. I'll never understand why this happens. My heart goes out to the mother, I'm very sorry. After work on Sunday I'll send a few bucks to help out.

Paypal sent, glad I could something to help around here. Payment for all of the good reading.
Please accept my deepest sympathy for Ms. Eckford and yourself. |

Wolfpack had to drive a U-Haul to CA this weekend. I do not think that he will be able to respond to the post or e-mails.
Stoke, I know that he will greatly appreciate the mags. He is going to contact other vendors first part of the week to try to increase the "prizes". Thanks again for all of your support. Tom |

Bob, Im in for $50. If I win, I would like you to re-raffle the items.
I just lost my grandmother so I know how expensive it is to bury a loved one. A good way to save some major bucks is to order the casket though one of the wholesalers. You can easily find one online. They delivered a nice casket for 50% of the cost of the funeral home. The funeral home by law has to take delivery of the casket. The companies will truck it to the home within 24hours. Better yet get a print out of the cost and a lot of the funeral homes will match. I got the exact same brand name walnut casket for about $1800 delivered. The same one in the funeral home was $3500. I asked them and they said they would match but was too late to stop the delivery. Best wishes to the family. |

Hey guys..I'm speechless! I want to thank all of you who are participating and have donated, it's unbelieveable. I just got home from L.A. We packed all of Pat's belongings on Friday and drove the U-Haul to L.A. Friday night, unpacked this morning and drove home. His mother doesn't know about this and won't until it's over, she is gonna be floored. Thanks again...Bob

Just curious, how much have you collected? It's amazing what we can accomplish when everyone gives just a little.

Wolfpack,
This is a very nice gesture. I applaud you. However, I must ask one question: Have you verified the legality of this raffle? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but these raffles for friends were tried on other boards, and found to be in violation of some state laws. Particularly if the prizes involve firearms or if they are valued over certain limits. Basically, the raffle could fall under the gambling statutes. When these other raffles were checked, they were not in compliance. Most participants chose to just "donate" their raffle money, rather than receive a prize. If all has been checked, please respond and count me in. |

[;)] View Quote Yes, I saw that you were from NV. However, gambling is regulated there, is it not? Seriously, I'm not trying to be an ass, but a year or so ago, there was another individual trying to raise funds for another deceased gunsmith's family. He was offering knives, firearms, and such as prizes. He had declared a winner, and was then notified by his state's investigators that the raffle was illegal and he was commiting a felony. Remember, a felony means no more guns. Had he shipped out the firearms or other prizes he would have lost his business (gunsmith). I understand and appreciate what you are doing. However, I'm sure we all would like to make sure that we are not contributing to a possible illegal enterprise. You may be in good standing with the local cops, but how does that help us? As I mentioned before, when the other raffle was determined to be illegal, all the participants "donated" their raffle money, and declined to accept any prizes. I would like to help, but not at the cost of commiting, or participating in a crime. That is why I requested confirmation that all legalities have been satisfied. |

Joe_Blacke, you may want to stay out of this raffle then. I haven't secured my gaming license yet. [;)]
