Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - RJ11 into RJ45 for DSL?

I just moved into a home which is wired throughout with RJ45 jacks with CAT5 cable. I have a DSL modem which uses an RJ11 connector. When the come to activate my service will I be able to plug the RJ11 from the modem into the RJ45 and have it work?

the last apartment i had you could plug in a dsl modem or phone into what looked like a 45 jacks and it would work.   have you tried pluggin in a phone cord?

I did try plugging it in and it fit

it will work just fine.  builders also use cat5 for telephone and data usage
