FWIW? *I* personally don't get check out men in sports cars...
I check out men who drive pick ups.

Simpleton I am.

But I am married too...and hubby drives a pick up...and all is right in the world.

I don't check out the men in the cars (or trucks or on the Harleys), I check out the ride.

Who knows Striker. I try to be friendly to everyone regardless. Great car though and you'd better check your fly!

Well yes but..she looked right at me when she smiled.

lol, sorry striker, I was in a "mood" last night. Now to answer more appropriately

I always seem to smile (and wave) as my neighbors go by, even the neighbors whom I don't know. Maybe she smiled this time because of the car. Hard telling really.

No, she's smiling at you because she wants to jump on your bones.

Yousa silly maaaaan. Why question a smile? Maybe she happened to recognise you from one of her many walks (you recongised her, right)? Maybe she likes your car, maybe she just had a funny thought, maybe she just passed gas. Who knows? Who cares? It's nicer to smile at people than it is to give them the bird.

Now, if it were me...

I'd be looking at the car smiling. If I happend to make eye contact with you...it would be purely secondary. Come on, it's a purty car.

But I don't go around thinking "hey, I'm going to smile at this or that guy because he has a pretty car."

MMMMkay...I didn't want to deflate your ego...

FTR?? I dig men in Kilts more than men in IROCS---easy access and all
Took me YEARS to talk my Italian hubby into one (I used to demo them for a Living History group) and DAMN he looked HOT in it!

Well, didn't you purchase the car to "get attention". So, didn't you get what you wanted?

Some women do check out men in cars. And if they're nice cars (I personally don't like IROC's, saw waaay to many of them when I was a young adult, and they're overrated imho. Not ragging on your car, it's a matter of taste), yes, more women will check out who's in the car.

Just this AM, I was driving on 95 to work. This car comes up behind me with a muffler that sounded like the friggin car belonged at a Speedway. It had low profile fat tires on the back, normal tires on the front. I looked at the driver, I figured it was a kid. It was a 50-ish guy, balding, hair gelled back, with a leather bomber jacket on, trying to look waaaay to cool.

I laughed because he looked ridiculous.

He even wears a skirt kilt on occasion.

Nice. He can moon the enemy while he runs away from them.

You gotta be kidding. She looks like the Missing Link. Check out the mustache, dude.

Wait, wait. She's the one in the long skirt, isn't she?

Never mind.

After seeing your picture Striker, she may well have been smiling at you. You are a handsome fella (and yes I tried to imagine you without hair since you said you were bald)

Anyway, I don't look at the person in the car, I look at the car. I've never been one to like a guy because of what he drove, but hey, there are those shallow people in the world.

Okay, keep in mind I'm a lesbian, so this answer is likely FAR too "practical" Vehicles are meant to get one from "point A" to "point B" if it DOES that - it's all good. I'm w/ SP1Grrl on the "shallow" part though.

But maybe the neighbor lady has always liked THAT "type" of car, hence NOW maybe she sees you as a "41 year old bald guy" with good taste. Or as someone she NOW has a "refrence" for, whereas before, you didn't seem at all "interesting" because there was no "connect" with anything she associated w/you.

I know I've done similar things w/others.... they went wholly unnoticed as I'm typically doing 3 things minimum all at one time. Then I find out someone whom I've "noticed" but not really "NOTICED" likes animals, or a certain author I like, or firearms, or any myriad of other things I like - THEN they "register" this is MY guess, but it's just a guess.

I "edit out" a LOT until something hits my "radar" it's like in one (eye, ear, whatever) and out the other. And it doesn't get "retained". That's my guess. Is it a messed up way to be? Probably, but frankly, I just don't have time for stuff that doesn't matter to me. And best case, I've got another 50-60 years then . So will very likely continue to be my SOP.
