I would imagine that it boils down to the MSM not wanting to be called racists. And it would happen if they criticized him even in the slightest. My own mother (very Liberal) even called me a racists after bashing the hell out of Obama's policies/inexperience/etc. My own mother! She knows damn well that I am about as far from a racists as they come, too.
I think its just something that has been beat into the heads of so many people over the years. Throw in some white guilt and a touch of being the first possible black president and you have what you see in front of you. |

Yes. While most people will focus on his race - the OP was correct to point out that the media has not always been so kind to Sharpton, Keyes, Jackson, etc. The simple truth is - he is a big city liberal, with a big city education. He is ONE OF THEM. They TRUST him and RELATE to him, because he is of the exact same social demographic and political bias / opinions. 90% or more of the media fits into a very narrow profile of opinion and socio-economic group. That same profile is where Obama fits. It's really that simple. It has little or nothing to do with race. |

Think logically. It has less to do with race, and more to do with politics. He's significantly further to the left than Hillary. Doesn't that say something??? Frankly it seems that the MSM does its best to choose candidates for us in the first place. Sometimes there is some confusion as to who to glom onto in the beginning, but after a while it becomes clear and then it is all down hill from there. Since Obama is the one that the MSM has chosen to glom on to they are not going to report anything negative about him. He could be caught fucking puppies to death and smoking crack with a midget hooker at the Watergate and it would not get airtime. Just like the fact that Kerry threw some other assholes medals over the fence and not his, just like Gore giving Occidental Oil special treatment when he was VP. Of course when the truth comes out it is through an alternative source, and the last time 'round it was the Swiftboat Vets. I think that Obama was chosen because he is virtually "Swiftboat-proof" because you can't criticize him without the race card getting thrown. |

The media is making it like he is the end all to be all...Again when Sharpton and Jackson ran for President no one gave a shit about race then...So why Obama?? I guess I don't know any black conservatives, because the black people I talk to seem to like him. And the one Obama rally I went to was about 95% black and everyone seemed to be pretty pro-Obama. lol
Seriously though, I saw a CBS poll from June and among blacks, Obama was leading over McCain something like 89% to 3%. |

The MSM is obviously protecting him. No one had heard of him before last year, and everyone was certain that Hillary would be the next president. Somewhere along the way, they decided that he was their marxist messiah, and they turned their backs on Hillary. I don't think race is the main issue, but it might play a role.
I wish we had Alan Keyes as the Republican nominee. I wouldn't have a second thought about voting for him. However, I'm still trying to convince myself to vote for McCain

I think my girlfriend and I more or less went for the scene. I got my mom to take me to see Reagan campaign when I was like 12. I just enjoy it. But I think there's just no question, black people are going to support Obama over McCain *overwhelmingly*. |

For starters, the MSM is entirely liberal and Obama's essentially the liberal messiah: multicultural, a member of the oppressed minority (but not too oppressed), hardcore socialist, Utopian view of humanity, modern, hip, youthful... Jackson, Keyes, and Sharpton all lacked in these departments. Jackson isn't very multicultural, is stuck in the 1960s civil rights movement, and is an anti-semite. Keyes is black but conservative, hardly a liberal messiah there since blacks aren't supposed to be conservative (according to the MSM). Sharpton is completely unicultural (black ghetto culture), uber oppressed, harbors blatantly paranoid views about whites, and is incredibly anachronistic to boot. Add in the worn out welcome of the Clintons, liberal white guilt, fear of the "That's racist!" .gif, and Bush Derangement Syndrome and you have a nice thick coating of Teflon on Obama. |
