When I was in the Army - '96-'00 - the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment was the OPFOR at Ft Irwin NTC.  On Army.mil under the Army Images section there is a pic of a Bradley that they say is from the 11th ACR.  When did this change?

Is the 11th once again a real combat unit?  Or did I misunderstand the caption and just the soldier on the Brad is from the 11th?

Anyone?

Since no one has replied yet, I'll take a stab at this.

It's my understanding that the 11th ACR is still the OPFOR, but that they have sent units to Iraq. It's not a thing where the whole regiment deployed, just parts of it.

Maybe someone else can come along and provide a more detailed answer, but I think this is what they are doing.

I believe the entire regiment is over there. OPFOR duties are currently being taken care of by 1/221 CAV, NV Guard.
