I'm new to the site but I'm a friend of Wolfpack and he helped me register. I'm 14 and have a chance to go on a global mission trip with my church. There are three trips all in summer of 2008 to chose from.

1. Costa Rica
2. St.Petersburg, Russia
3. Porto Velho, Brazil

The trips all cost about the same $1500-$2000.

I just want to know about safety concerns in each of the areas if any of the three choices shouldn't be considered.

Thanks and look forward to the replies.

Sterling,

Welcome on board!

Out of those three choices . . . . .

I would choose Costa Rica first.
It will be the most beautiful and SAFEST of the three.

You will see things there that will blow you away, as
far as natural beauty goes. The pineapple there is Sooooo
sweet that it is orange. The butterfly farms, volcanoes, and rain-
forests are AWESOME!

I've been to Brazil a lot. It's okay. Very different that what you are
accustomed to. But, it will be a great experience. Safety might be a concern.

Russia. I have not been there. People I know who have been there have loved it.
They say that the people are fantastic. Once again, that should be an eye-opener for you. Safety? I do not know.

I love Costa Rica so I'm very biased.

You're doin' the work for the MAN so just give of yourself and go OUT OF YOUR WAY to love the people and you will be blessed. I believe that He blesses those who "feed" His sheep.

If you need any more detailed info . . . . . Just ask.

Take care!

Uncle-Al

I was in Costa Rica about 2 years ago on a mission trip. I also have been to Nicarauga twice in 99 and 2000. All 3 trips were for construction projects for the church I attend.
As far as safety? If God is sending you then you have nothing to worry about.
