Well I figured if anyone would know it would be you guys...tomorrow morning I have my psychological test for a police dept so that I can get hired on. But my question is what could possibly take 5-6 hours for this test? Just wondering, thanks

Your probably looking at a battery of tests and maybe an interview. Go with your gut on the test and be honest on the interview.

Alot of departments use the minnesota multiphasic personality inventory test.

That takes about 2-3 hours to finish itself.

When I did it the written test (there were 5 or 6) took the better part of 4 -5 hours. The oral interview with the shirnk was about an hour

I have all ready been offered the job but had to do the poly which seemed to be a breeze and now after all the interviews and written tests the only thing left is this psychological and medical. They just told me to prepare to be there up to 6 hours so it is just weird to me I guess but must be the norm.
Also have any of you heard of a Lift-Task Test....I guess it has something to do with machines testing something or another?
Thanks

The machines are your friends...

I had a combo knowledge / psych test that resulted in the testing authority telling me they "didn't think I had the neccessary makeup to be a firefighter".

I had just completed 2 years as a fed FF & stareted working for the City after already having 5 years as a POC/Volly.

Yeah... multiple guess tests administered in an auditorium are so accurate

I've run this one and similar courses before. The PARE test is brutal if you're not in good shape.

I always thought that Canadian's Police Physical test was running away from a moose?h.gif

Naw.. the tough part is wearing the johdpurs and balancing the oversized hat!

And now we pause for our anthem... Ren and Stimpy style:

Anthem of the Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen

Our Country reeks of trees
Our yaks are really large
And they smell like rotting beef carcasses

And we have to clean-up after them
And out saddle sores are the best
We proudly wear women's clothing
And searing sand blows up our skirts

And the buzzards, they soar overhead
And poisonous snakes devour us whole
Our bones will bleach in the sun

And we will probably go to *thbppth*
And that is our great reward
For being the-uh-Roy-yal
Candian Kilted Yaksmen

No experience with LE testing procedures here, but I have taken my shares of tests and in Psych class I took a few personality inventories. My question is, how hard can it be to get the right answers? It seems to me that the more screwed up someone is, the better they are at giving the answer that hides it best.

Not cop bashing here at all, just questioning the usefullness of psych tests.

Can someone try to give me a few examples of what I mite be asked?

Well speaking from personal experience, I find that if you want to pass, tell them what they want to hear, not what you actually think...

..took me 3 tests before I figured that one out. Interview- speak the truth. psyche test- lie thru your teeth

Many questions asked 4 to five different ways.

" I like flowers" Do you like children? People are trying to kill me.
