I have that problem too, my main connection to things related to firearms is books, magazine and the internet, so I rarely hear theings pronounced properly out loud.

i grew up in rural montana. no tv, no radio. needless to say, i was a voracious reader. the funny part is that i'm slightly dyslexic, and would pronounce words as they appeared to my eyes in written form. what was even funnier: i would write words that i had only heard, and screw up the spellings while doing so. this caused no small amount of laughter in my family.
