(This is a senior level class keep in mind) Note on the door says, "Due to the tragic Bush victory class today is canceled."

That motherfucker deserves to be fired, if I payed for that class I would be raising hell right about now.

Please tell me you left a nice little comment scrolled on his note.

What an asshat.

Make a photocopy of the note and complain to the chancellor - would you have been excused from class if you had decided not to show if Kerry had won?

Tell the head of the dept, or whoever else will listen, that "damnit, I pay out the ass for tuition and I expect to get classtime for my money!"

No I didn't leave a note, I'll make sure to rub it in monday though

Also, this is a state school and this teacher was a HUGE Kerry fan. Still, he's a good teacher in his field (psy) and wouldn't necessarily like to see him fired.

Gee the only time we had class canceled for an "external" event was for the final episode of M*A*S*H.

Get into the room before class starts, and tape Bush/Cheney signs up everywhere. Or maybe talk to him in his office while a buddy puts Bush/Cheney signs all around the door.

He wouldn't be fired for something like this (in fact, if he has tenure, he can't be fired) - but having the chancellor (or the head/dean of psychology) tell him to keep his personal politics OUT of the classroom certainly couln't hurt.

It's very inappropriate, and there should be some consequence.

I agree. You're paying for a class you can't attend because this prof is a whiney liberal.

Why just one pic on his door? Cover his office door in pro Bush pics!

Agreed.

But, to me, it's not a liberal/conservative issue even. I'd be just as outraged if Kerry had won, and a conservative professor cancelled class because of the "tragic Kerry vistory"

Either way, it's just wrong from professors to bring their personal politics into the classroom (with the possible exception of political science classes, where maybe it helps discussion or something).

Find out where he lives and put Bush/Cheney signs everywhere. A nighttime covert mission to put a bumper sticker on his car would be good to, but then he's a "professor", and a liberal one at that, and probably doesn't own a car.

Screw 'em. You got a day off from class. If he's tenured there's not much you can do. I know it sucks but don't blow your grade over this.
