Is the 14" CMR hand guard supposed not run parallel to the bore axis?

My barrel runs straight out and the hand guard is running "up hill" from the recover to the muzzle. The affect of which is the inside of the hand guard is contacting the bottom of the gas block when shooting from a bipod. This is exacerbated it I swap to a heavy barrel and when the lite barrel heats up. Ive taken as much off of gas blocks as possible to no avail. I've really tried to like this hand guard and I need to know if this is something I've done wrong and can remedy before I ditch this thing.
Its a great hand guard otherwise.
