Tried both.
I'm not certain of this but the MRO seemed to have slightly more than true 1x to me. More distortion than the true 1x of the pro.
Add to that the fish eye around the perimeter of the glass. Very noticeable.

I walked into my local outdoor supplier really wanting to get the MRO. After handling it for ten seconds I said nope! I'll stick to aimpoints.
And believe me I really don't like aimpoints. They are everywhere, everyone loves them, and the contrairian in me wants to like something, anything more than the aimpoint. At the end of the day though there is a reason they are so ubiquitous.

For me MRO. The overall small size and huge feeling window sold me.

MRO is smaller, lighter, and cheaper.

Is it cheaper? Seems theyre about the same when you factor in the riser for the mro.

MRO would be my favorite optic if it weren't for that horrendous glare.  Had 2 that both experienced it.

lol...you could replace the word aimpoint with glock in your post and it would be fitting.

Seriously though, thanks for your insight. Always nice to get an opinion from someone who actually has experience both.

I compared both recently and I like the MRO better.  Think it looks better too.

small and light is better for SBRs, PCCs, and bullpups.

Plus I've yet to take either into battle.

I have owned both and a Comp M2. I still have the MRO.
Link Posted: 6/17/2017 11:59:11 PM EDT
Picked up a PRO years ago from PSA for $350 and still love it.  Wish my T2 had a dial that was half as tactile.

No time behind an MRO.
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 12:13:36 AM EDT
If red dot is the question, Aimpoint is the answer. I prefer T1s and t2s, but the MRO is not true 1x. fuck that noise.

Have both, like both, but prefer the MRO for its size.

My MRO had problems (windage way off) but Trijicon has great CS and they replaced it. New one has been fine so far.

I have 2 PROs. One has more blue tint than the MRO and the other has less.
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 12:21:36 AM EDT
I don't own a MRO, but the one I looked through had way too much blue tint
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 12:25:42 AM EDT
I won't be much help, I have ARs sporting PROs, T1s and as of today a MRO that I sighted in this afternoon. If they were all just one or the other I'd be just as well off, seem to like them all about the same.
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 12:38:43 AM EDT
run a mro at work and home, have had a pro...no issues with either, just like the smaller size of the MRO

Got a Trijicon Reflex and now feel those things should be considered as a gateway drug.

An ACOG TA33GH then gave me my next fix.

Then the Aimpoint / MRO quandry hit me.

I chose MRO and I'm happy as a guy with a new set of tits to play with.

Your mileage may vary.

MRO starting to run away with it.
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 6:49:57 AM EDT
I have a PRO on a sbr and like it tremendously, no eperience with MRO.
Boom Stick, how's that ruger sound with the octane?
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 7:18:58 AM EDT
Man this thread is deadlocked!
I have an MRO, but honestly its my first 'quality' optic.  I didn't try anything else.
I love it and would get more, but honestly I wouldn't mind trying the Aimpoint PRO as well.
The MRO is built like a tank(7075 aluminum), in Michigan, the dot is crisp, the glass is great, the brightness dial is great, the mount it came with(factory co-witness) is plenty good enough.  Has a bible verse on the side if you're into Jesus(psalm 18:28)
I got it from AIM Surplus maybe 6months ago for $400 +tax, shipped free

Window size should have no bearing on a red dot choice.

Ya'll keep forgetting about the Aimpoint Micro, as the clear winner in this debate.

I just picked up a MRO, comparing it to my T1 I can't tell a noticeable difference in them. Outside, with both eyes open the slight magnification and lens tint is no issue to me. Considering the MRO cost close to half the price of the T1, I think it's a great deal.

I asked this same question in a thread in the tech forum. After reading it, if weight is any concern for you, then the MRO (for the money) is the answer.
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 9:04:05 AM EDT
Cheaper? Lol, no

I was looking to buy the MRO but got a lnib/unused pro for $325 shipped from the EE.

OP didn't ask about the micro lol.
I think he's trying to compare similarly priced setups.

Neither is the T12/2 series lol.

I voted MRO.

Pro seemed/felt cheap and ran out of adjustment on a friend's M&P 15 rifle.  I have a T-1 and ML-2 and you can tell the difference.

The MRO on the other hand, seems legit.

Why PRO Vs. MRO?

Shouldn't it be Micro Vs. MRO?

but not my wallet's

I've been eyeing the Primary Arms 1-6x and 1-8x Second Focal Plane scopes. The First Focal Plane would be nice but it's $1k / 3x more expensive.

Love my MRO
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 10:25:29 AM EDT
MRO is ugly as fuck in my opinion.

They are pretty equal sights so I'm voting by looks.
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 10:43:30 AM EDT
I have owned both and for me the PRO is the easy winner.

Trijicon makes great kit. However, in this segment, Aimpoint has them beat.
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 11:03:13 AM EDT
MRO. Not only is it lighter w/greater battery life, the controls are more ergonomic and it comes w/a lifetime warranty (AP's do not).
Out of all the dozens of people who have tried one of my MRO's, not a single one has complained about (or even commented on) tint, magnification, etc.
The PRO, while a good optic, still has that exposed switch knob that can break from impact rendering the optic DOA (there's a reason the CompM4 & M4S went to a knob that's physically disconnected from the switch).

The fisheye and blue tint were too much for me to justify buying the MRO.  I was very disappointed because I wanted to love it.
