All, as we have no search function it is not easy to know if this topic has been posted before, can anyone list the method(s) for posting pics with and without access to the photo server?

Thx,

You can upload to hunt101.com or other free server, and right click on the photo to find the URL of the pic, use the image function and post the url into there.  Photo magically appears in message.  Some free hosting servers will not allow third party posts, though.

I have posted to hunt101 but what is the image function?  Is it text/line code?  If so,
can you provide an example?

Thx,
BD

Do you have any web space with your ISP ? If so you are all set.

It is not a matter of webspace.  What are the steps within a post window to get the pic to show up. How do I get the pic to pop up?  I know this is probably very simple but I have no experience posting pics.  When I am posting a topic what do I need to do to get the pic to pop up?

Thx,

1. First you need to sign up for a free picture hosting site if you are not a paying member of AR15.COM. I use www.hunt101.com.
2. After creating an album, upload any pictures that you want to store on the host site.
3. When you have the photo(s) in the album, click on the thumbnail photo to enlarge it to full size.
4. “Right” click on the photo and scroll down to “Properties” and “Left” click.
5. Find the address in the box that appears.
6. “Left” click behind the address and continue to hold the button down.
7. Move the cursor to the left until the entire address is highlighted and release the button.
8. “Right” click and scroll down to “Copy” and “Left” click.
9. Go to your post or reply on AR15.COM and “Right” click in the text box.
10. Scroll down to “Paste” and “Left” click.
Add {img} in front of the address that you have pasted and {/img} after it, only substitute the brackets [ ] for {}.

OR. . .you could just hit the "Image" button on the reply page and insert the URL.

.. now just put the "img" in front of that, and "/img" behind it - but use square brackets [ and ] instead of my quotation marks

When you post bellow the white area were you type there are 2 rows of buttons, smiles, and 2 more rows of buttons.  in the top row on the right there is an image button.  Click it and paste in the URL of the image into the space provided. then click ok.  and there you go.

Finally....  Whew!!!  I used the image button to do it.  I must have been typing something
wrong because I tried the square brackets first and it did not pick it up.  Thanks guys for hanging in there with me.  There should be a page somewhere on ARF where newbies like me can learn the basics without harrassing you guys.  Thanks a bunch.  I do appreciate it.

Many thanks,
Bludogsixty

currently were I learned this stuff isn't working due to the board upgrade.  when you post right above the submit button is the board code button which if it had been working would have explained this in easy cut and pasteable ways.  But alas it is not working so it fall to us to explain it as best we can.

and in doing so bring up our post counts   +1
