This is the Carrier toy we had up at Grandma's in Illinois. Had a rubber band at the bottom and I guess that yellow lever to release the planes into the air. Have yet to find anything about this toy anywhere.

I remember that! I believe it was re-released in the late-70s as a "Baa-Baa Black Sheep" toy.

WHOOOOOA!!!!

I had one of those when I was 5 or so.  I had forgotten all about it.  I'm having a serious flashback now.

The "catapult" was a plastic strip in the center of the deck.  The yellow lever both cranked the strip back and launched the planes.

It was beyond cool.

Thanks for posting that.  Really.

Yep, I had one.
I don't remember if it was an official Baa-Baa Black Sheep toy but I got it when Baa-Baa Black Sheep was my favorite tv show.

Holy Flashback!

My neighbor had one and you had to tweak the wings a bit to get them to fly true.  It was cool!

to the OP, that is one toy that i wish that i had when i was a kid, it looks like a blast!

speaking of old toys, this might be from the same area. I bought my dad and uncle some of these a few chrismas' ago. they always used to talk about them and how cool they were. and they still worked!

Those, along with the Smoking Dog, used to be available in every rest stop vending machine on the East Coast.
Right next to the 50 cent pocket combs.

I had a carrier similar to that, but it had a pistol grip and you "shot" it to launch the planes.  The planes looked similar to the ones in the photo.  This was maybe 1975-76 or so?

You could launch the planes with a smaller launcher too.  I lost several of those planes.  We used them as weapons trying to hit other kids in the hood. I loved that toy.

Had one! If I remember the LH plane launched with a rubber band, the Rh plane attached to the catapault, when the yellow handle was yanked it pulled a clear plastic band in the center of the deck moving the ac forward and launching it.
Was alot of fun 35 years or so ago!

First off, wasn't that long ago, I'd venture to guess early 80's? the planes were a soft neoprene/rubber material, as a matter of fact, when I go to clean out my stuff that my mom humped around with her, I bet I'll find that, my original GI Joes, and my alltime favorite notalgic toys, "Heroes in Action".

When I was little I had a red plastic jet, that the front was an open hole like the end of a pipe. You tied a string to the end of one wing, and when you swung it around in circles the air going through the fuselage made it go r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r. I played with that thing for hours.

Hey, when I was a kid I had the 90's version of that. With F-14's!!

I played with that thing for hours a day. I was an only child, so I was flying missions all over the house.

What a depressing childhood now that I think back.
