West Texas 2013. Howa 25-06. He was an old deer; hooves curled up on the end and ears were chewed up on the tips. It was about 15° with a 20mph wind. There was ice on the rack by the time he was gutted and loaded.

I shot my first doe this year, after 15 years of bucks I didn't consider it pic worthy.

This one's special to me because I shot it with my primary rifle, my underfolder AK

It's a doe, but damn does it taste good.

Both my daughters got their first kill this past Sunday. Youngest daughter killed a spike during the morning hunt and older daughter killed her a spike during the afternoon hunt.
Made me one proud dad.

At the rate I'm going, posting a picture of the road to work is a better bet.

Weather was terrible during bow season. Weather got good when gun season started, but everyone around here runs dogs and make life miserable/dangerous in the woods. All I have is public land available. Next year I'm hunting on base, not enough time left this year between work and other stuff to even bother with that this year

Just about everyone here put me to shame but here are my two for the season and I'm happy with them. Killed on a busy WMA on the first two days of the season.

Pair of six points. Identical weight and spread. Taken with .50 Caliber 295 grain powerbelt during blackpowder.

First six had a 6-7" spike with him. Never reacted like he was hit. Ran to within 50 yards of me after the shot and then casually looked around. Stood there for what seemed like an eternity. No abnormal actions. No sign of an exit. Normal tail movements. Finally acted nervous and ran into some thick bushes and disappeared. The spike slowly loped by me while I lamented not having a second shot. Climbed down after 45 minutes and found him as he lay in the first picture.

Second six the next morning was a less nervous experience for me. I was higher in the tree and he was closer to me. Whereas the first deer gave no sign as to being hit the this one jumped way up in the air, jumped again the moment he hit the ground, and then got low taking long strides. Ran out into the middle of a busy road with me yelling in my head "NoNoNoNoNo..." wheeled around and reentered the woods, made a turn for the truck and dropped about 40-50 yards from it.

Neither bullet exited and were fully mushroomed.
