ETA: Didn't we used to quarantine people that went to places with ongoing epidemics?

ETA2: Press conference says patient did go to Africa but does not have Ebola.

That's what I was thinking too. I just hope if it is confirmed they keep it from being spread.

Your article has, basically, no useful information. How do you know this person went to a place where an epidemic is going on?

Ebola in SLC or not, the fact we're worried about this, BECAUSE WE FLEW PEOPLE HERE WHO HAD IT. and are allowing people to land here from Oh, Liberia and all, is criminal.

I don't know, if I was in Africa, and thought I was exposed, I'd beat a beeline back to the USA

I don't know as we don't have the information yet.

Turns out the Dallas patient was in Liberia. If this patient has Ebola, where would they have gotten it?

Of note as well, this is a pediatric hospital attached to the University of Utah Medical Center.

I'm really having a hard time understanding what you're trying to say. But I believe Ebola can cause confusion, so maybe I'm just infected.

We used to. Then we got soft and just let them mingle around until a big problem starts, all because we don't want to hurt feelings.

Probably anywhere that has a major airport and many connecting flights. Like Dallas or Salt Lake.

Wake me up when you have confirmed cases.

Until then, you shall remain another wannabe

We've already shutdown our boarder. We don't let Texans come up here.

Um, no thanks. You can keep your border issues and non-open carry laws. We're good here.

And you can keep your state income tax and state owned liquor stores.

WHO run Ebolatown?!

Link Posted: 10/2/2014 2:18:38 PM EST
I just watched the local breaking news. They had a patient who traveled to Africa with symptoms, tested the pt., found an alternative diagnosis, that this was basically a test of the system, nothing to worry about, go back to regular traffic.

Watching the news conference:

Looks like they are saying that it is NOT Ebola.

Maybe it is ebola and they are just saying it isn't to prevent a panic.

It's probably hantavirus.

Sounds more likely to me the hospital is just treating this case like they've been notified of certain procedures to do to help contain a virus before it becomes an epidemic. You know, like they have been.

I'm sure the list of hospitals that wants to look like a bunch of fucking amateurs handling things like Dallas did is probably pretty short.
Link Posted: 10/2/2014 2:31:46 PM EST
I do not see the point in announcing that someone may have ebola. Wait until it is confirmed. If there is a chance, go ahead and isolate for the few days needed to verify the actual disease but stop the useless "possible ebola" announcements.

Maybe they don't want to panic the Mormons... They'd just Madagascar up.

This ebolacrap is building up to the level of intensity required to get the populace to stop thinking about national issues leading up to the 2014 midterm elections.

What -- the Democrats all got re-elected? That's OK because at least I don't have Ebola... because, you know, Ebola!
